I have also heard about this on some airliners.net threads. The 733s that Air NZ have do the job quite well I think.
They got the last off the production line and aren't too old. I would much rather have a Boeing 73G/W fleet rather than the A320 family.
On the Airliners.net thread someone said that there were corrosion problems with some A320s that were less than 5 years old I think.
If some NGs were chosen to replace the 733's, the main airline would be an all Boeing fleet.

PPrune is probably right. Its obviously going to cost less to get more 320/319s and chuck the low cost cabin crew (Zeal320) onto the new aircraft, so its probably what will happen.

Is it just me, or do like all LCC (exceptions of course) use the Airbus A320 Series?

Frankly the way New Zealand is going , we going to end up with Chinese copies of Russian types of old , the TU4 'Bull" or the AN22 loada '####' with Nigerian toilets maintained by Eskimos who live in Paris because the air conditioner in the igloos melted the hanger where they kept the American coffee pot . tongue.gif

Whole heartedly agree with you Ian,................ maybe its time they looked back to the reasons NAC chose the B737 in the first place, over the competition from Europe and the UK. Most of those reasons still apply............
To say nothing of all those faithfull years of service and reliability, not just here, but the world over...........
For myself,........... if it aint a Boeing, I aint a going in it !!!..............

Yep - there is no doubt the 737 has pedigree - after that kind of longevity, and the fact its the most produced airliner in the world, it all adds up to a good choice. So lets face it ANZ will buy crappy Airbuses
