While we all wish the young guy well, I hope he wasn't one of our bright young stars from the forum, this is the sort
of activity I can see them involved in.

That story reminds me of an accident that occurred when I was a young cadet at a gliding camp........... while in the process of being winch launched in a glider out of NZMA, the winch failed before it was supposed to which necessitated an early release. We were fine in the glider of course and simply rejoined downwind low level and landed. However the winch cable ran out of control and snagged on the top of the winch tractor, hitting some poor kid in the side of the face. Thank god there was no serious injury - a massive bruise and some superficial scratches - but we all knew how close he'd come to losing his head!!

My best wishes to the cadet - lets hope he makes it out okay

Sorry bout that. Just goes to show know matter who it is or what you are doing something might go wrong and it was a very unfortunate circumstance that a young Cadet happened to be the unlucky one. All good that he's not worse though. Also sucks he wont march in the ANZAC Parade sad.gif. Give him all our sympathy wink.gif

Wasn't good at all and when I heard some one say he was an ATC Cadet I had concerns it was lil Timmy (Resq-me) from these forums.

Saw the poor young guy being wheeled by as I was running through the hospital.

This is terribe news. I know Ryan well having flown with him and his father many times in their aircraft all round the country. A very bright and keen young aviatior, I sure hope he makes a full and speedy recovery.
I don't think he is a member of these forums. Could be wrong though..

Yea, I hope he is doing well. It's not often the NZ cadet forces get publicity and obviously as in this case, any news is not always good news. I was also supossed to be staffing this very course. Unfortunatly I didn't recieve any information or travel details so I had to flag it away (something I wasn't too keen on doing. but I had no way of getting there sad.gif )but to think of how close I was to being anywhere near such a disaster is horrifying. I hope a speedy recovery is in order
