An interesting arrival at Christchurch late this afternoon in the form of a Virgin Blue Embraer E190 on its delivery flight from Brazil to Australia. VH-ZPM, in full Pacific Blue livery, arrived at Christchurch from Lihue via Pago Pago and will be in the country for the next few days carrying out trial flights to a number of regional airports including the likes of Invercargill and Hamilton. Perhaps places like Tauranga, Napier, Palmerston North, Queenstown, even Nelson and Woodbourne could also see this aircraft grace their sky/ramp. The aircraft has been aptly named "Emma-Braer" and is one of three to be adorned with the Pacific Blue script.

As seen on Mike's blog here: http://www.mrcaviation.blogspot.com/

Post pic's if it comes to your local!

Is it just me or has this one caught everyone by surprise? I haven't heard any talk of it happening until today.

There was a short article in the Herald today about it- not sure where -ZPM made it to today due to weather, but it's currently parked up at NZAA.

Could easily be mistaken for a Metro on stilts!

They are fairly nice looking planes, I don't mind them at all.

DJ have been known to use the 190 LR on the PER-MEL route, which is a little bit longer than a trans-tasman. They'd almost certainly have to weight limit that flight - but its possible they could use this aircraft to fly some smaller, low density routes.

Apparently the Embraer (VHZPM) ingested a bird during take-off at Hamilton (MRCAviation), so will be there longer than expected...

LOL tongue.gif You beat me to it!! I had the pleasure of clearing the E190 for takeoff from NZHN. It hit a small flock of plovers while accelerating, leaving a couple dead on the runway. After taxiing back to the apron, the engineer found a number of bent inlet guide vanes in the number 2 engine, which may well necessitate a complete engine change!! The pilots locked up the left main gear while braking on the aborted takeoff, which left a pretty impressive cloud of smoke behind the aircraft!! Pics below courtesy of David Walsh of its arrival into NZHN and on the ramp.

Lol - not the Eagle B190 that landed behind the E190. They taxied in right behind just as the water arch ended!!

The other day I was walking in town and saw this jet fly over, but I thought it must be a 737, so I didn't think it of anything special smile.gif
