it was a beautiful day and the 1st time i took my girlfriend up for a flight, shes not a fantastic flyer so you can hear her get a bit nervous just before touchdown. the foxpine approach is a 11 degree angled approach and let me assure you that those trees were ALOT closer than they looked on the video. enjoy

Yea you would be. They stall just the thing is that the ground stops the plane from stalling forever. Stall warnings go off all the time. I used to get it all the time taking off short field.

haha it would take alot of courage to land on the markers with the trees that close, it was my 1st time in there so i was being extra cautious, i train with the kapiti aero club out at NZPP

the best landings are were you hear the stall warner just before touchdown its just what i have been taught to do.

I never landed in a light aircraft when the stall warning hasn't gone off- it doesn't mean you have stalled, it's just a warning prior to stalling at the low speed + high angle of attack combo.

Try a cherokee Andrew The stall warning is usually followed immediately by the stall... We dont tend to use it as it can create for some heavy landings...

I've only flown 3 times in light aircraft, must have been to caught up in the excitement to hear it!

I take that back- I was just rewatching a vid I recorded whilst backseating with Jarred (HCP), landing Cherokee -LMA last year and there was no stall warning to be heard- perhaps he's just a very skilled pilot

I've also flown Cherokke -EBE many years ago, but like Ben, was properly too caught up in the excitement of landing to remember whether the siren went off- I think I read someone once that PA-28's have an overtendancy to sound their alarms, although I may very well be incorrect...

They say that the best landing is when you stall.(5ft agl). in the dash we get it 10 above and the F-100 30above speed all system warning so if you hold it off (not on auto land) shell come up warning stall stall.
keep up the stall on landing piper and cessna and other but dont tail scrape if the plane, does not want to get past its point.

I'll take the credit...

But if you look closely at about 1:33 or 1:34... you'll see (just above my left shoulder) the little red "Landing Light" on the dash light up just at touchdown... LMA doesn't have a horn

And nothing wrong with the stall warning going as you touchdown... but if its blaring when you're more than 2 or 3 feet off the ground... then you're more than likely in for a hard "landing"
