This old TVNZ doco from 1997 was on last night, some amazing stories of early NZ aviation. The second half is tonight at 10:10.
I liked the story of Fred Ladd, who supplemented his income by flying crayfish to the mainland, and got around the licensing restrictions by tying bits of string around their necks and selling them as pets...
