Railroading fun

Dear folks!

As mentioned before, I spend an essential part of my leisure time as tinkerer and engine driver at a railroad museum.

Last weekend, we had our annual open house party. One of the highlights this year was the presentation of our newest engine, a 1967 built 16 hp Diesel shunter
(http://mkb-berlin.de/details/mkb_03.htm).

This is how she looked when we started restauration back in 2002:

Here's our chief engineer (he did the restauration more or less on his own) during the presentation ceremony:

As surprise for him, I have built a tiny but essential tool for this ridiculous small engine. Hidden by the cab, this is me mounting it:

This his how he reacted when he realized my naughty joke:

The colourful center of our open house:

The older the boys, the bigger their toys...

Cheers,
Markus.

Yeah...but you absolutely need to have a small motor, that turns the key as it goes! winkyy.gif

Many years ago one of the guys from the RNZAF base Woodbourne had one of those small three wheel cars and the guys put a key like the one above through the roof and attached a windscreen wiper motor and it used to turn around as he drove along. Some of the old air force guys that went through Woodbourne many years ago might remember seeing it.

Yep - making this key turning would have been the icing on the cake.
But there were sooo many other things to prepare... sad.gif
