Wow!! thats some pretty mean flying there to keep the hook in contact w the ground without actually touching the fuselage down

That was one cool cat landing .. cool cat LF , gos back to 2006 .. jeez that time went quick .. it was possible to repair the aircraft but due to the phasing out they scraped it , love how they mention exactly were the fuel was sitting ... very smoothly executed ! good find CP cool.gif

Interest sake - the aircraft was construction no. FC-19 USAF 67-0143 arriving in Amberley 4/12/73 , so i did pretty well for itself being the second batch , of all supplied a total of 44 F-111s two happened to crash in New Zealand , one just outside Ohakea and the other in the gulf of the coast of Auckland .

"just outside Ohakea" was actually the bomb dump Ian. It had a double flame out on take-off due to water ingestion and ran off the end of the runway. plane.gif
