Thinking about REX and Mother nature.

Over the past few weeks Ive been looking at some of my screens , and in particular the clouds...... in both FS9 and FSX .......are they realistic ? some seem too bright, some too "thin" .
Anyway, i spent an hour or so this afternoon just watching clouds, and i saw all the things REX can do ....... big billowing CB's ....... the thin edge of a passing shower , all the light and shadow, amazing.

Im (now) more than happy with what the PC throws up , but i wonder how much RAM mother nature has ?, what are her graphics settings ? and why do i feel so insignificant standing under all her best work .... maybe its because I am .

What an age we live in, i can sit here and change the world too suit myself (sim) and miss all that free stuff going on outside.
May i recommend 5 minutes a day , just looking up .... its worth it.

Oh this brought a smile to my face as it made me remember one day when out driving in the country I heard myself saying "doesn't this scenery look realistic, the colour and light modelling are just so right" - this was followed by one of those awkward pauses where he was thinking what sort of nut case I must be, and I was thinking "I really must get away from the computer a bit more"!!

I was accused of spending too much time in the virtual world and sadly couldn't really make any arguments in my defense after that moment of thoughtlessness.

I could change that thought .. get into real crappy mother nature ... then you think , 'Mother' i wish i was at home in front of a fire , and then with that .. wish i could replicate this cr@p weather just to make me feel good , nature has its good days and sure as hell has the bad

Today i was up on the 17th floor of the place i work.... watching huge clouds form and then just vanish .... im sure i saw REX set 1 through 10 in less than an hour Aint life grand

There was a very marked temperature inversion over New Plymouth where I was flying a parachute sortie the other day.



The photo I took reminded me of the problem I was winging about with REX here where the vis instantly increased to an almost unlimited line of sight climbing through about 5000ft, although ironically, that's exactly what it was like in real life!

Nice one! That's as bad as me reaching for the Ctrl-Z when I made a mess in the kitchen dropping a glass last year. Would be handy to have that feature in life though, eh?

I keep telling people ' what ya eyeballs painted on ' ... again look at Andy's photo and study it .. then return to FS ..

also take time to think about the stuff past all those clouds....it's sometimes a bit overwhelming thinking about what is (isn't!) past those clouds, past our atmosphere, past our Sun etc etc....You'd need a very grunty computer to model that

true Timmo , just watched a dvd on the universe (quantum stuff) mind blowing, somehow puts this little blue marble in perspective.......yes , beyond the clouds.

And a lotta spear time , maybe a stargate or a wormhole to get to place a lot quicker .. space the final frontier .. is that weird or what but i love it
