Thinking of it , the Dutch had it in the 50s and to the 70s with the Fokker Friendship and Fellowship ... the later updated aircraft have now revert to the simple numbers F-50 or F-100 so the trends change with the times.

Then Fokker went bankrupt and no more Fokker planes.

A fishing boat sinks of the coast of Canterbury, the crew and the captain are fortunate, the RNZAF F-27s were stationed at Wigram.

The captain of the fishing boat was well prepared and had all the safety gear stow on the life raft, radio and emergency gear.

Once checked everyone was on board the life raft he radioed for help - psss qsss MAYDAY MAYDAY .. on the emergency band.

RNZAF Wigram picked up the call immediately and replied "We have your message we are sending a Fokker Friendship"

The captain in the life raft then replied back "We don't want your Fokker Friendship , we want your Fokken help" !

The New Zealand time of year, and the weather, is always confusing for Northern European folks such as me...
