Say WHAT???
Somebody answered the Vodafone helpline in 40 minutes???
Ian you must know somebody in high places... :D

I tested them once, put my mobile on speakerphone and left it on the desk as I worked.
It purports to have a speaker standby time of over 2 hours - well the battery died just after the last announcement of "Your call is important to us..."

I believe no-one actually works at Vodafone; it is a big machine that someone set up some years ago.
That person has left the building and there is no-one brave enough to tamper with it.
Contractors from eastern countries who don't know any better, come in and dust it once a week.
Sometimes the phone rings when they're there...

This reminds me of where I work, one of our clients has the answer phrase of "Your call is valued, may I take a message?" If it was really valued, would it be going to a message service?

When it comes to "communication", I have a feeling that I am the only one left in the World who still uses a copper wire, land-line telephone, and contacts other folks and receives messages on my computer using E-Mail!

...and "Face Book" is a definite NO-NO... ...!

My Great-Grandchildren tell me; "Get up to date, Granddad!"... ...!

My only use for my "Mobile Phone" (pay-as-you-go) is to carry it with me, (always switched off), in case I have to call the break-down service on my Motor Bike....

..otherwise it is never used...I hate Mobile phones with a vengeance...and the folks who have them permanently glued to their ears!

I throw bricks at Mobile phone users... :nahnah: ...!

Paul.... ...!

When I broke my phone screen a few weeks ago, it was like I was suddenly cut off from the world, and I couldn't figure out how people did simple things like checking when the next ferry was due, or finding where you are going on a map, or checking your bank account to make sure you can afford groceries.... I couldn't even read an ebook on the ferry, so I had to pop into the library to get a real book. Remember them? When I went to the auto-checkout, the machine told me I had to update my account, so I went to find a librarian. She said that I needed to update the info on my contact person, my daughter, who had shifted away, but I had to tell her that I didn't know her phone number, as I didn't have my phone!

The librarian said that she had never owned a phone. On the way home to decided that I'd quite like to try living without one for a while. The next week was great, I actually got to look around me at the sights, and greet people in the street! But of course with bits attached to my heart to keep me going, it doesn't really make sense to be out without immediate access to help, so I fixed the phone, and now I'm back to staring at the screen every five minutes, and I wouldn't have a clue what's happening in the real world...

I absolutely love and adore my freedom from Mobile-Bloody-Phones.... :groupwave: ...!

I know that absolutely no-one can make the bloody-annoying-thing ring in my pocket, and annoy other non-Mobile-Bloody-Phone Users in the Check-out queue at the Supermarket!

The whole World is a truly Peaceful Place without a nearby Humanoid equipped with a Mobile-Bloody-Phone....

..trust me...I know!... :wink2: ...!

Paul...gimme a ring...sometime next year...maybe.... ...!

God...I HATE them bloody things!... ...!

Go to a party , one friend is on the other side off the room and they start texting  , rather than simply walk across and say hi or even really get the party started ... be in a room full off Maori and Islanders .. scream out "Whats up me :swear:" .. , great thing It would move peoples , "wake up call" and wake the audience up , that when people really get to know ya

Only advantage is on the bike and bad things or breakdown , that is the only thing they really are ideal for ... I should actually take a Cal ..cal ... a button pushing thing that makes numbers and pretend its a communicator .. now that would be a riot ! :D

...its a sad fact that every time one of my Children and their offspring come to visit me, or I go and visit them, the very first thing they do is to get out their "Smart Phones", Tablets, and games machines, and start tapping on them, and even making calls and answering calls, and completely ignoring me in the process!

There is NOTHING more annoying than to be in the middle of a conversation with someone, and they suddenly answer the ringing Phone, whether its a mobile phone or a land-line phone!

I should have a notice on my front door....>>> "Switch your bloody phone off!".... ...!

Its the same with the; "Television"....
.....If someone calls on me for a conversation, I always switch my television OFF!
...not have it playing in the background!
They don't do the same for me!.... ...!

Paul....Muttering under my breath!.... :arrr: ....!

I live in an atmosphere of utter silence.... ....!

Yes there is. That bastard in front of you at the movie theatre who answers his phone in the middle of the movie and starts yapping loud enough to be heard 3 screens over...
