I've just come back inside, a constant wind at the same angle Brake street blew every rubbish down , cleaning street in wind at 210 deg at 22M/S , say there would be a lot of damage in the morning , down trees as such , never seen the tree outside here on a 15 to 20 deg angle either. first time the bins have be blown in like that.

Had the power drop out in Rolleston, due to a tree falling on power lines.

It was a fun day at work in Wellington this morning.

Into Wellington I bet it was ... It really had to walk sideways , the wind was just constant ... I was able to lean forward on a extreme just so you did not get blown away , I've lashed the bins together against the tree should not be a mess in the morn , Ill get up early check rubbish comes through here around 6.00am but I think maybe a little later in the morning.

Pretty rough here to Ian ... hail as well .
One of the moggys isn't to keen on the wind noise , and hail makes it worse .... the other one couldn't care less

Just hope it clears up a bit before Friday when i fly out ... dont mind a few bumps in the air , but i dont like getting wet. (car to terminal )

...haven't experienced that sort of damaging wind in a few years, here!.... ...!

I always fear tiles getting blown off my roof and damaging my Motorcycle parked on my front garden path!

Wind is exciting, providing it doesn't create expensive problems!

But for health reasons....

Not far from it , 5.00am this morn , it was 2°C and with chill factor - 4°C , I hope the city council gutter snipes get out this morning , rubbish all over the place.

Thing is this weather is a polar blast and bloody miserable if you had to work in it, the max the constant wind for a good 15/20 minutes was 24.2/MS - around constant 87Kkh just before I ZZZZ'd of last night.

The biggest blow we had here was in August 1st 1975 and this time it was a warm North West wind were wind speeds measured at Christchurch Airport was measured at 172Kmh , that was exciting , on that day max wind speed was measured in Kaikoura at 194Kmh .

Back then we live in the last on a dead end street, crown across the road then into paddock, on the fence there was a sheet iron stables, it wasn't modern by any standard , to see that fold up (20meters long) and end up a crumpled head 80 meter against fence line .. that was mind blowing to watch, if any you watched the horror movie 'Poltergeist' at the end when you see the house fold it looked a little like that.

At the airport two light aircraft of the Canterbury Aero Club, tied still took off and literary flew over the fence one off those high security fences, I do photo's of the after the day.

I've just spent ages converting your last post into Yards, Feet, Inches, and Miles!

I cant get my old head around all this; "Continental Measuring" stuff... ....!

But what I find really annoying is when my American chums use the word "Meters" when referring to distance, instead of "Metres"!
A "Meter" is a device for taking/indicating measurements!
A "Metre" is a measurement of distance!

In the engineering department you grow up with both , best way of doing 25,4 mm = 1 inch / 3.6 meters is 12 feet , metric is far easing to teach as it 1 then 10 .points - 2 then 10 .point and so on , so for example your measurement Imperial for 3/8 as a decimal is 0.375 , X that with 25.4 mm and you get 9.525 , engineering the material will be forge to be simply at 9.5 in diameter so one can use both materials sizes as standard ...

Same works with speed and distance , 30 mph is 48.28, but rounded of to 50 kph meaning your actually allowed to travel faster.

Charl , I have only reinstall my REX essentials, I do love the security and the storage and ease to 5.2GB back from 'The FlightSim Store' biggest thing about it, I brought it 8/12/2008 , also has come updated.

I was amazing just how long it lasted and how strong it was , Munter was in and outta here like a YOYO .. soon as that hail hit , don't he was use to that , just stopped thru again , may see later tonight .. super neighbour ..
