..as I always say....

Out of all the many internet Sites I visit throughout the day, eg; various World News Channels, various Flight Sim Forums, Youtube, general information, etc, NZFF is the only Internet Site that constantly flags up a warning; "Not Secure" in the address heading, that the Site is dangerous, and not to reveal any information of use to Hackers, etc!
I have the fear that some dastardly group of low-life will be busy hacking into my Daily Weather Reports on the chat Forum and stealing the results!
"AVG" handles most of my Protection (phew!), but it is always worried about NZFF and its goings-on!
Any other form of; "Protection" has been deemed unnecessary, at my advanced age, according to my Practice Nurse... ...!

This is a very similar issue to the other thread here talking about sunscreen... A secure certificate (SSL) is good to have, especially if you collect information which really shouldn't be available to anyone else, such as credit card details, but it is the sunscreen of internet security. SSL only stops someone from hijacking the connection between you and the server, whereas I think that most hacking is directly against the server, or your PC.
Recently SSL has become another commodity, to be sold via fear tactics. These days, the only reason why most sites think they require SSL is to placate their visitors, who have bought into these fear tactics. I don't think that NZFF really requires SSL, but maybe that's the reason why nobody visits here any more....
Very recently, the normal SSL certificate is just not good enough, mainly because it is relatively cheap to buy. The more expensive one -- the SPF 80 version -- gives a GREEN padlock on the address bar! Now sites are beginning to think that their perfectly good certificate is no longer sufficient, so they have to spend more money.
That reminds me, I need to renew my SSL for my site shortly. This is always fun, I normally scrape up the money, pay for the update, then let my site host know, and they then forget to update my site every year, so for one day a year my site normally gives an 'expired cert' warning.
So, I'm happy to visit NZFF as-is, and I think you should be too. AVG is the equivalent of your mother reminding you to put sunscreen on every time you walk outside.
