Seems a typical thing these days, always getting corrected only to find they are have a worst track record ..... Snort blink.gif

‘Crystal Methodist’ Paul Flowers has been filmed doing what he loves best – entertaining rent boys and apparently snorting cocaine - in his Bradford home. Holding court in his rent-free Methodist Church house, the disgraced minister and former Co-op Bank chairman is shown for the first time indulging in the addiction that brought about his downfall and wrecked his stewardship of the ‘caring’ bank. The squalid scene, taken from an exclusive video, is all the more astonishing as it was only shot just over a fortnight ago – and a week after Flowers was charged with possession of crystal meth, ketamine and cocaine.

Dude, all I can say is this world has gone so PC, Nanny state, wrap every damn thing in cotton wool then bubble wrap it it makes me sick. I am completely anti the PC crowd and they are completely anti me, as I have a bad habit of tearing down anyone that tries to preach to me about being politically correct or dares tell me that I am not being PC.

If UK employment laws are anything like the current NZ ones, I cannot see that he wouldn"t have a big claim for re-instatement and wrongful dismissal.

In recent times it has proven almost impossible to sack anyone, drunks thieves and liars have all been found to have a case and the poor sods
who are trying to run a business have been forced to re-employ them, often with a financial "pill" to soften the hurt they have suffered. However,
I suppose this is just another form of Political correctness...?

Bazza , Ive had first hand experience of this . Worked for a while with a company that had one of these low life "you owe me " winners , he was all the things you mentioned , and more.
Sacked twice , police involved in one case .... but no case sadly , and the boss forced to take him back on. (not sure about the financial pill)
He has since overstepped the mark , and is finally living at her majesties pleasure .... not before causing major damage to a small struggling business .

That happens all to often, one example with me, I was with this company for two years , I went overseas - come back three weeks later to work all components made the quality was out and measures simply would not jig for second op, this was by a drop kick and so called factory foreman , a did not Despair ... I was the new boy in the shop , I had engineered since March 11 1977 ... at that company for 27 years and this other for three.

I went to management numerous times without any result, the twit really brown nosed only because he was competition with my old company and believed him, Lies and a Cheat , I tasked myself to get rid off him , Nice thing I had the confidence of the three other staff members , I went on a vendetta and under-minded everything this idiot did ... the staff , Me, Rubin and Johnny still meet up and we all left the company.

Barry, I need a job , maybe you should hire me as a trouble shooter for a couple of weeks ninja.gif

It's funny, you know, for me it appears kind of the opposite. In my late teens I was a bit of a dolt, but there was a lot of that about at the time. By 20 I could just about make it on my own if I had to. Now, my kids were quite capable of looking after themselves, they all supported themselves through uni, although the oldest didn't finish, he was too busy doing other things. I know that things were different when I was that age, but I wouldn't have known where to start if I wanted to go to uni. Sure, they went through stages where they dressed and talked funny, but that's the way it's meant to work. It's easy to judge a kid by his/her appearance, too easy, really.

Back to the topic, I tend to be a bit cynical about things like this -- I'd be more inclined to put the blame on greed and power, rather than political correctness. Plenty of people use 'what's right' as an excuse to get the result they want, and I would guess that that's what has happened here. The old guy had to go, but you can't fire someone for being old (fair enough too), so you find something else.
