MP pay rise

Postby cowpatz » Thu Feb 26, 2015 8:37 pm

Quote 1: MPs will get a pay rise of 5.5 per cent, the Remuneration Authority has confirmed, which translates to a $8200 pay rise for backbench MPs.

Quote 2: The adult minimum wage will go up by 50 cents an hour from April 1. Workplace Relations and Safety Minister Michael Woodhouse announced today that the minimum wage for adults would increase from $14.25 to $14.75 an hour ($1000 per yr approx).

Kind sums up nicely whats really wrong in Godzone.

I'll tell you what, as a very ancient Pensioner...

I few years ago, I could, with great care, gradually increase my savings, month by month.

Now....my monthly income (fixed) cannot even keep in step with my monthly outgoing expenditure by Direct Debit.

All my various outgoings, Rent, Rates, Light, Gas, Water, Services, etc, have all increased in price, with my Pension income falling way behind, and I fear that my Bank Account is gradually getting drained over time, and I have little, or no control over it!

I don't want to be a Poor Pensioner... :( ...!

Paul....Donations gratefully accepted.... ...!

TV Choices: Adopt a Snow Leopard for £3 a month, or adopt a Poor Fozzer. for £3 a month?... ...!

It is the same here everything is going up much faster than our meager yearly pension rise, so if you have anything left over from your donations after you have paid all your bills you can send me the left overs to help pay my Rent, Power, Phone, Internet Broadband, etc,
Anything at all would be much appreciated

Pretty much in the same boat Doug. I earn (Now) 25c above minimum wage and I live in Auckland) I was earning 75c above minimum up until about 18 hours ago)... That's now 14.75 per hour min. But the living wage movement has calculated that to live in Auckland you need to earn at least the minimum of 25 an hour. Hmmm slight discrepancy there, and our PM just gave himself a pay rise of 8 grand a year, he's almost up to a half mill a year salary for selling this country to the Asians, and not working for NZ while people like you and me (Kiwis) can't afford a bottle of milk...

So tell me this, just how did National get in in the last election without rigging it??? Esp with te amount of National M P's that got voted back in in Christchurch...

Easy. A dumbing down of the populace. NZCEA is a classic example. Tertiary vocational education is all about bums on seats and the emergence of meaningless certificates and diplomas.
The average kiwi has little understanding of politics. Say something often enough and a mistruth eventually becomes accepted. especially if said with a smile and crack a joke to boot.
Employ a department full of 'spin doctors' and image consultants. Channel scuttlebut through low life bloggers.....and they don't get much lower than "the slug".
Dose the populace constantly with mind numbing/stupefying television. MKR, Embarrassing teenage bodies, enforcement shows, The block, and talent shows....christ how many cooking, building and talentless shows do we need?
Turn newspapers into tabloid/womans mag formats. Sack any investigative journo and belittle those that do their job.
"I don't remember" is now an accepted form of excuse or reasoning from an elected official.
Turn a blind eye to electoral donations and who is giving them and why.

As long as there's Facebook, Apple produce a new iphone every 6 months, we have fast food, rugby, beer and the TV works then all is well in Godzone. Most NZr's (whatever that means now) couldn't even spell politics let alone have any basic understanding of it.

Although there may be hope yet.....
