Every cloud....

Postby emfrat » Sat Feb 13, 2016 5:08 pm

Well, thanks to a monumental blunder by Telstra last week, which shut down their entire mobile network instead of just the bit they wanted to work on, all their mobile customers will get free data from 2359 Sat to 2359 Sun.
This means ME, for my phone and my home network. All I need now is a huge download to take advantage of it...any suggestions? :plane:

I don't have any idea "to take advantage of it...any suggestions?" ... Telstra is Vodaphone here and I'm currently in battle .. never been late with a billing in well over TEN years after change from Telecom because to slow ... when turned Vodaphone or my new plan , all I have had is issues ... and the bill is a bloody mess ! ... what got me really pissed was a automated machine telling me .. ya rather follow up from real people or even an email were this issue started 7 months ago.

I feel your pain - nothing worse than being interrogated by a robot, especially one that only speaks pidgin and does not understand the script he/she is reading to you.

My allowance is 15GB/30 days and the connection is fast enough to pull that down in one day, so, yeah, a day of free data is very interesting.

Then to finish ya off they say one is behind in payments .... by three months ! :o REALLY this is ridiculous ...

Cor Blimey, Ian!..... ...!

$677-20 for one month's usage!..... ...!

...and I bust a gut when I get a bill from Talk Talk for £27-20 for one month's usage (Direct Debit)!

My Talk Talk contract each month:
TV. (don't use it)..... ....!
Broadband: £10; 8 mb/s copper-wire download speed....fast enuf!... B-)
Home Phone: Land-line. Free evenings and week ends.... :D ...
Mobile:....what's one of those things?... ...

BT Line rental: £17-70 (Copper wire stretching from pole to pole).... ...!

Total per month= £27-70

My bill remains the same each month providing I don't use my land line phone for telephone calls during the working week's day-time.

My only moan is with BT, for the monthly cost of using their copper wire for my Broadband Internet... ...!

"Fibre Optic" would be nice for extra speed, but a very costly extra , and my only limitation is with my present "Upload Speed"...(You Tube) of 0.06 mb/s...on a good day!!... :( ...!

Talk Talk works quite well for me!... :D ...!

Paul..... :D ...!

I don't have a lot of/any use for a; "Mobile Phone" i-phone, etc,...(it stops people from phoning me!)... ;) ...!

Paul , I took the screen out ... in all my fury I left primary account details in there , thanks to Nick 'NZ255' pointing that out  ... biggest thing is how dose one go from a ZERO and one cannot even understand the billing ... ever since the change over to VODAPHONE it been like this, I like the service regard to usage but the rest off it ... It was getting the threatening automated telling ya pay or else .... the thing that gets me is its automated payment ?

All my bills are paid automatically by Bank Direct Debit every month...

Broadband, Rent, Rates (Poll Tax), Water, Electric, Gas, etc, etc.

All I get is a Bank Statement now and again, which confirms how much is taken out of my Current Account for each bill....

...so I never get a bill threatening to cut me off at the knees if I don't pay up immediately!.... ...!

Its nice not getting "bills".... :sleepy: ...!

I had a neighbours knock on the door, they were asking about the Fibre Optic currently going in here, they have these cables pop like weeds ... least here , I told them off this billing , one thing that gets me is as soon as a I changed over last May and got the first bill it was the same ! ... I contacted them directly and told them everything should be $000.00 after my auto payment .. they are bloody brain dead.

The accounts department appears to have simply shrugged their shoulders and did nothing about it , so it has escalated to this , now there is missing money , company BEAN COUNTERS ... obviously they don't take their work seriously .. again bloody brain dead.

One thing that strike me is were did they get these numbers in the first place, so it will be interesting to see what they have done this next week.

I'm on a standard 80GB and phone for $80 a month, as soon as I got that first bill 7 months back ... there should not have been any change at all .. simple smooth sailing , just a logo change on the billing ... Naaaah ! ... it would be interesting to find out how many others have this issue ?

beat me to it, I had logged on to your account to ask them for 2 additional Galaxy S6 phones, on plan.... :)
Bit of a steep account I agree... I get Unlimited Broadband from Spark for 100 bucks, about 5Mbit/s at the end of a very long copper wire.
And I have a $30/month Vodafone mobile account which has 1GB on 4G if Google Maps needs it.
On which topic, I guess Testra and VF decided to update their software on the same day, as Maps died on me while lost, and I ended up with a speed fine of $300 and 40 demerits! But that's another story.

Mike sounds like you are in for some photoreal and mesh somewhere... but your downloads will no doubt crawl as everyone dives in for free!

Well, there was an updated Stewart Island at flightsim, so I tried that, but it was going to take too long, so I stayed with the one I had. All the movie downloaders had a great day, it seems:

When you think about it the automatic "accounts department" has seriously SUCKED UP, auto payments do not stop, ..... If one 'I questioned it seven months back' and never had a complaint from me also .. then to add to that, the history must be documented , as I said bloody great service with its operation ... I do like the not Muck about snap in connection - TelstraClear is still on the billing not V-Phone Soooo , soon as it went across to the VODAPHONE it got screwed , One would have thought a simple switch in the and the same change over ........ The transition 10 plus years back from TELECOM went like , nothing happened ... mention a billing they ignored it or least must have .... One arm of the company dose not no what the other arm is doing .... guess I find out this week!

I recall when a Megabyte was a big deal, and just got comfortable with GB. Does all that information go inside the human race???

I remember coughing up $400 for a 40MB hard drive, the very latest thing at the time (early / mid 1980's, if memory serves).

My £25 Mobile phone is only carried/used for emergency break-down on my Bike, so I don't have a contract...

...mine is just "pay-as-you-go" top-up.... :D ...!

...the phone is always switched off when not in use....so I don't annoy anyone!... :P ...!

...and the reason...>>> http://www.simviation.com/phpupload/upl ... 535122.jpg

My only "contract" is with Talk-talk for unlimited, 8mb/s, Broadband Internet, including free evenings and weekends land-line telephone calls, for £27 per month, by Direct Debit

It seems to work out quite smoothly, with no problems!

Still haven't found a practical use for owning an; "i-phone", etc... :sleepy: ...!

Paul....still in the "Olden Days".... ...!

Hello Ian.... :D ...!

I get confused by your; "Account Balance"..... ...!

If you have a contract to stay with a service supplier for a fixed period, I would have thought that all you pay for is the fixed monthly charge, plus the amount of "usage" each month, which will vary depending on the usage...

..like my Broadband contract with Talk Talk, which gets automatically sucked out of my Current Account, each month by Direct Debit.

Yours sounds quite complicated, Ian... :( ...!

Paul...I hate; "complication"..... ...!

Interesting numbers, for an account which is supposed to be an $80/month bundle.
Do you have a Telecom Ombudsman over there?
