A good example of the wind noise that we suffer with wind blowing over the camera!

Speech cannot be heard without increasing the volume, then the wind noise becomes unbearable!

It would be nice to narrate the video as I travel (instead of just adding text during the editing process), but that requires a separate external microphone for use with the camera, which is not possible without modifying it!

Example:...>>> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Xv6lLBTpMY

More experiments to come!

One of the biggest things is making all this hardware small it has some great points .. RC aircraft or anything with mind but ya sneeze ya lose it ... but also has these snoopy privacy issues that are now appearing everywhere from shopping malls ... now going rampart , put it in the wrong hands ... were all in trouble.

125cc? Aprillia 4-stroke single!.... ...!

Has he taken the motorcycle safety course?

Time to learn how to ride safely now!

...I did all that 65 years ago....and I'm still learning...every day!... :wink2: ...!

He's going to have loads of fun on his new bike...there's nothing quite like it!

Tell him to take care, and take a pride in riding sensibly, with courtesy to other road users, Ian!

Ian to Paul about another Paul, Paul did a motorbike course, his dad Gary was also a motorbike man, that was were I got to know the family, I use to stop in a shop in Barrington for my weekly aviation subscription home from work on the 900 or 1100, just like you had them so clean ....

How I met Gary, Paul's dad was on a Saturday morning stopping into the same bookshop when I saw two books, I want both .. there was Gary on the prowl ... he wanted both :D So that was how we first met well over twenty five years plus ago ... :)

The Bike, Its a Aprilla 150CC, I was surprised about it performance, I'm not really a trail bike style person , sorta prefer the racy rocket ships, Paul is one off those super careful people and now has a family has to be, he is sensibly the most courteous young person I know, It was the fight over the books in the bookshop (not really)with Gary .. started chatting ... biggest kick was seeing the toys I had ... nah not the motorbikes it was the Battleship just getting is final finish.... that's how we have stuck together, Paul will be fine :)

Hello my Bikin' Reprobates!.... :D ....!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F3n5K04zgEM

Yesterdays ride in the late afternoon sunshine along familiar roads, testing my new microphone fitted inside my helmet and attached to my (modified) camera attached to my head (via my helmet).

Starting off with a fun chat to Brenda-next-door (as usual), then off around Herefordshire (via California) with the wind in my camera and flies in my teeth.

Need more work to do, to boost my voice and kill the wind noise...
...or the other way round....your choice... ;) ...!

It was a fantastic ride in quite warm sunshine for a change.

Need more practice with Vocal Chat!...(We English don't say a lot!)... ...!

...and less wind.

More stuff to come....be very afraid!

Havin' fun in the occasional sunshine!.... :D ....!

Hello Chums!... :D ...!

My latest upload last night (took over two hours to upload!) of a nice trip I took last summer, 2015, on my speedy 2-stroke Yamaha RX-S 100 motorcycle, before I purchased my present Honda Cruiser!
I still use the little Yamaha for times when I want to experience the fun of riding crazy, gas-guzzling, 2-strokes again!... :D ...!

This particular upload I have text-narrated, as an alternative to recording my voice, unsuccessfully, when battling with the wind noise on the microphone when travelling at speed!

2-stroke fun and frolics!... ....>>> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VoUNGkUzM7A

Bank Holiday Sunday's bike ride in the sunshine was great, meeting up, and chatting with all the Bikers at Abergavenny, and then following the old road route from Abergavenny to Monmouth before the modern A40 Dual Carriageway (Freeway) was built.

Part of my long journey...>>>
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LYjSZyGOJE8

(Sorry about the wind, etc, noise, on my microphone inside my helmet!)........ ;) ...!

I love searching out the old road and rail systems from my travels in the 1940's and 1950's in Herefordshire and Monmouthshire, before the modern building work; roads, rail, and houses, was carried out after the War.
The remains of many of these old roads can still be searched out, and I find them with the help of my old Ordnance Survey maps!
(I have the same sort of fun with my FSX Flight Sim in the USA).
Its amazing just how much the countryside has changed over my lifetime, and I often think back with nostalgia to much quieter times, with much less, and slower, traffic!.... ...!

The weather is still holding up, with sunshine now and again, so I'm off again, with my camera attached to my helmet to video some more amazing journeys of exploration around the local countryside!

Paul.... :D ....!

...more stuff to follow!

Hello Chums!

Carried out another test the other day for my helmet mounted, video camera modified to accept an external 3.5mm lavalier microphone installed inside my helmet.

https://www.youtube.com/edit?o=U&video_ ... feature=vm

As you can hear it picks up all sorts of extraneous "noises" as well as my voice.
Wind noise is always annoying, but even more annoying at the moment is the whining noise coming from my gearbox!
I cant remember what the sound was like when I first bought the 1996 bike last Xmas (2015), with 26,000 miles on the clock, and 7 previous owners, and dubious maintenance records!
I don't know if the "gear sound" is common to all Honda Rebels, but my bike sounds particularly noisy at the moment, and it really spoils my ride when I am not wearing ear plugs to drown out all the sounds!
(A brand new clutch assembly fitted, and new Castrol 10W30 mineral oil a couple of weeks ago).
It sounds very much like a rough ball bearing race inside the gearbox?

...and I don't fancy a complete strip of the engine to locate the problem!

My other bikes, 1994 Honda CB500RR Twin, and 1983 Yamaha RX-S 100 2-stroke, both run as sweet as a nut!

I hate troublesome engine noises!.... ...!

Paul..... ....!

P.S I wonder if Greg is familiar with this crowd?..... :wink2: ...>>> https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Finks_Motorcycle_Club

My latest offering of my ride last Sunday....

Its the constant wind buffeting at speed that I find most uncomfortable on my rides with no windscreen!
...and even more dangerous is the damage to my hearing by wind and engine noise, especially if you wear an open-face helmet like mine, with no face and noise protection!
Even wearing ear plugs (VITAL) has marginal effect on the overall noise experienced.
Any speed over 45 MPH becomes uncomfortable for me!

One of the advantages of riding a "Cruiser" bike, is that folks don't expect to see you travelling at the speed of light...
...the ride just becomes a comfortable cruise to admire the scenery as it glides "slowly?" past!.... :D ...!

.....mind you, even my little Honda Rebel does get all excited at times, when its safe to do so, and produces a wide grin on my face!.... ;) ... ...!

Anyway Chums, here is my latest escapade: A journey from Hereford in England to Abergavenny in Wales, a journey of some 28 miles last Sunday on a lovely warm sunny day!....>>> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jJHjtxKE45I
(The return journey to follow later).

...talking about 2-Stroke Motorcycles.... ;) ...

My latest upload today, of a lovely trip around some typical Herefordshire countryside, with high hedgerows, including black-and-white, half-timbered buildings in the village of Weobley, last Summer, on my speedy little Yamaha RX-S 100, 98cc two-stroke motorcycle.

A very enjoyable journey!.... :D ...!

There is nothing quite like a blast around the rural countryside, terrifying the local villagers, on a fire-breathing, smoke polluting, howling, 2-stroke motorcycle, with a very big grin on one's face...

....trust me... ...!

It make quite a change from my usual Honda Rebel Cruiser, which is supposed to be ridden sensibly...
