Can't be bothered with these "stash" keepers and their extortionist prices.

Marty, just had a quick look at e-Bay. The postage charges are a total rip-off.
Mind how you go, squire

'Propliner' is actually short for 'Proper airliner, with big rumbly radials'

The old Airfix Dak from the 60s or 70s? I'll have to check our stash, I know we have Italieri ones.

Mike, thanks for the link. That's the one I'm looking for ...I think it's the latest or last one so far released by Airfix and gets great reviews.
Your right about postage ...my God.

Nick, I do have one here , but it's the 2001 version in 1/72. The one I have must have had problems in the injection machine....bloody hell, I don't think I have enough clamps :(

Back to postage, Ive got a 737-400 and Viscount stuck in LA, and a AN-22 about to arrive in Auckland , all the way from ....Sydney, and the post prices wern't that bad (from Oz)

I use tape usually rather than claps but yeah by 2001 the moulds were getting pretty tired on that old Airfix kit. I could possibly sell you an Italieri one if you wanted?

Great to catch up mate, been far too long. In Dunedin right now. Caught the Airtractor at Methven, two 500s, two Squirrels at Mt Hutt, one of Precisions 500s at Timaru, NOTAR at Oamaru so not a bad day.

Latest kit finished, Revell Hunter F6. The F6 was the last of the pure fighter versions of the Hunter. The aircraft depicted belonged to the O/C 66 Squadron based at RAF Acklington in 1958. 66 Squadron reformed in 1946 by re-numbering 165 Squadron initially with Spitfires. These were replaced with Meteors early in 1947 which they flew until 1953 when they re equipped with Sabres. In March 1956, the squadron acquired Hunters which they operated until 1960 when the squadron was temporarily disbanded before reforming as the trials squadron for the Belvedere helicopter. It appears that this particular aircraft ended up getting refurbished and sent to Switzerland as an F58A and now resides at the Musee de L'aeronautique in France.

First Revell Hunter that I've built and it sure won't be the last. Not really an easy kit with very soft plastic that looses detail at the sight of wet and dry sandpaper but by far the definitive Hunter kit. Some decals were a bit terrible and I ended up diving into the spares box a couple of times. Not shown in the photo but the air brake and flaps are drooped as they often were when parked. Mostly built out of the box but I've added the lower seat handle, the ladder from http://www.aim72.co.uk and the aerials provided by the cat.
Airfix Harrier next.

Just finished the latest. Airfix Harrier GR3 of 1 Squadron RAF. This thing fought me like no other. The intakes refused to sit inside the fuselage halves and mate around the compressor and there was a massive gap down the middle of the nose gear bay. Sort of got that sorted and then much to my horror, the wing either matched at the wing roots or across the to of the fuselage... not both. I ended up having to do a lot of work the get it all lined up. Not perfect but it's passable.

The real aircraft XZ133 flew with 1 Squadron based at RAF Wittering under the command W/CDR P T Squire. In 1982, a detachment from 1 Squadron which included XZ133, embarked on the Atlantic Conveyor for the Falkand Islands. The detachment transfered to HMS Hermes a few days before Atlantic Conveyor was sunk by two Exorcet missiles. Although 1 Squadron's GR3s were assigned to the ground attack role, they were fitted with AIM9Ls for defense. 1 Squadron lost four Harriers during the conflict, three to ground fire and one to an engine failure. The detachment returned to Wittering after the conflict to resume their duties as part of NATO. The aircraft is represented as it appeared upon return to the UK with a standard fit of gun packs, two external tanks and Vinten camera pod. Interestingly, none of the squadron Harriers from this period appear to carry the squadron crest. XZ133 was withdrawn from service and spends its retirement today at Duxford.

Young Nick  you are fantastic with the plastic mate.
If you regard the Harrier as " passable." ....Ill never show you anything I'm doing ..... :(
Not that I'm doing much, I'm trapped in the "I must have it" stage ...they just keep coming, and they vary, the latest to arrive was a 1/144 747-8F and a Viscount in the same scale, interesting size difference.
787-9, and a 777-300ER (both 144) along with a Zvezda 1/72 C-130H due any day now :ph43r:

Enjoying your posts, keep them coming.

I definitely want to see what other people are building. The main thing is that you enjoy yourself and that YOU are happy with it. If I compared what I do to some of the things that people build, I'd never post anything.

Unless you want to meld the Matchbox T55 and Airfix F4 together and put it a bunch of work detailing, this kit is the only game in town. I have to find a home for the first Lightning before I build a second.
