Pulling yourself up by your bootstraps -

Background -
I'd posted this elswhere previously.
Best viewed from link below.

I'd been offline for a while,
and was catching up on what I'd missed.

Surprised to see no mention in FS forums of the following,
and as I'm not a TV viewer, have no idea whether broadcast. *-)

You're all aware of Leonardo's helicopter,
that infeasibly kludgy concept of human powered levitation.

Effectively pulling yourself up by your bootstraps.

Over 500 years on, someone's done it - AeroVelo Atlas Human-Powered Helicopter cool.gif

Whilst other HPH's have flown,
AeroVelo was the first to achieve 60 seconds flight, 3 m altitude, and remain within a 10m box.

Thus winning the American Helicopter Society's, (AHS), Sikorsky Sponsored,
Igor I. Sikorsky Human Powered Helicopter Competition prize of $250,000.

Ok, imagine this:

Your work is to drive an American muscle car real fast (140+ MPH) and call out distances to help landing experimental military aircraft... It sounds nice doesn't it?

The Secret History of the U-2

In addition, the release also contains newly declassified on one

Just came across this via the A2A forums. A delightful video of a 6 year olds first flight. I know, I know; it shows that I'm getting soppy in my old age but in my defense I want to say that it brought back reminders of my first flights and helped me to remember what they felt like to me - I probably didn't show quite as much joy as this 6 year old but maybe I should have!

I saw a very similar formation (more abreast), no specific day , work day it was and the 727 throttled amazing to see how the Herc was left standing , what i mean the compare off power as it pulled way.
