2degrees has been release and they are very cheap with there sim cards being $2 each

there rates 44c to call anyone in NZ and 9c to text any mobile in NZ

see more here www.2degreesmobile.co.nz

much better than telecom and vodafone for price
it will be replacing my sim card for the moment.

Yep their prices do beat Telecom and Vodafone. They don't however offer anything that effectively replaces $10 Text or Best Mates.

If you get to their website fast, you can still pick up a free SIM card loaded with $2, which isn't is good as their first Chinwag offer which had $5 credit. But it is still a free SIM with 2 bucks on it.

Plus I really like the ad with Rhys Darby laugh.gif better than Richard Hammond and whatever Vodafone's got at the moment.

yea, for $20 you get 322.22... txts (9c each plus 100 bonus txts) on 2degrees

telecom has 2000 to telecom or 500 to anyone for $10

vodafone has 2000 to vodafone for $10

it still only seems economical to have more than one phone. a Vfone for Vfone friends, and a Tcom for Tcom friends. i dont think i'll be switching. its good, yes but you need alot of people en mass to switch for it to work. you still have to think about other people txting you. if they are on boost or txt2000, they cant reply to you and they arent going to give up 1500 txts to do it.

i'm not even going to talk about XT. they just made eveything worse than thier existing CDMA prices so stuff them

Telecom XT plans you can send 1500 texts for $18 to anyone in NZ.

I don't get why a mobile company only does prepaid seeming companies in fact lose money through prepaid?

What's really annoying is that Vodafone Australia use a similar system, yet we are ripped off here by Vodafone NZ.

Vodafone have been ripping us off for a while compared to the aussies. I for one am glad for the competition (though I'm still a satisfied Vodafone customer)

(much like I'm glad for competition to Air NZ, yet still choose to fly them)

Guys, stop there for a second.

Do you REALLY send 2000 TXT a month? Or even 500? I don't think so. 500 means sending a TXT every half an hour for a month (I calculated daytime only)... These numbers sound good, but you don't get any bonus out of it, it just gives you the feeling of a good deal...

The primary thing for me is the cost of a call (as we are talking about phones or what smile.gif ). Some of the European companies sell 1 minute for about 2 cents! And you can call everyone in the country for that. So I think 2 degrees with their 44c is not that bad compared to the 80-85c of the two "monopols".

Just think about it. Let's say you have 10 minutes and you can choose between spending that time talking to your friend or texting him. Which method is more effective for communication. That's why I hate TXT.

The only disadvantage of 2degrees is that they have minute-based system.
That's only my personal opinion...

Txting is a way of the past anyway.. NZ and Australia are one of the few countries that are still big on it at the moment. For the same price as sending 1500 texts with Telecom you can send a much larger amount of "text emails".
