Posted: Tue Dec 01, 2009 3:56 pmThis would the very extreme .. even Boeing even have some shaky landings , One thing with this photo , i would love to see the entirety in video , A310 s are not small aircraft , this balancing act i don,t see any rudder or control surfaces going to work , this obviously caught the pilots out , the result ?
One thing taken into account , this was through a zoom lense , it dose distort exactly what is happening .

I would say the pilots would have been caught out totally unprepared for the unexpected.....
The result,.............. i shudder to think,... considering its heading straight for the grass , and that boundary fence in the foreground of the pic.
Looks like one hell of a strain on the undercarriage truck, and i wonder if the winglet on the Starboard side managed to stay intact ??............ Hard to tell from the pic......

Sure its pointed at the grass and fence, but where its heading (or the path its tracking) will be different. Remember it will "weather vane" into the wind. I'd pick once the gear is all down on the deck, the plane will straighten up. Still bloody scary though !! Amazing the strain the gear can handle. Not sure whether she'd be grounded for structural checks after that landing, before she's cleared to fly again?
