windows movie maker

I have been using Windows Movie Maker for a while now and am sick of it freezing, stopping working and not being compatible with lots of files.

Can anyone recommend another program that I could use preferably freeware, but if you know a reasonably prices payware that too.

Any advice would be appreciated. Cheers
