Just saw a news clip on my flatmates (japanese news) about a 737 crash in colombia (i think)....cant read it or understand much.
Looks like an airline called ARIES.....the plane looks to be in 3 pieces.
Im sure someone else will pick this up soon........but sounds like only 1 fatal(dont quote me) and 114 hurt.


Seems to be one a weel lately.......sad.

Having been a passenger on a number of Central / South American airlines, all I can say is that I'm pleasantly surprised that it doesn't happen more often. They are so lax over there in almost every aspect that the likes of the CAA & FAA would have kittens if they had to administer those cowboys. And I've been in one of those massive electrical storms that seemed to play a part in the crash - they are truly a humbling, visceral experience! For the cities at higher altitudes (eg La Paz, Quito, San Jose), one doesn't have the storm ABOVE the city, but IN it... one hasn't experience the true resonance of thunder until one has been "in" a thunderstorm in San Jose (Costa Rica)
