Everyone here OK after the earthquake near Christchurch?
Heard about it on the news, hoping the members here, and their families that live in that region, are fine.

I'm at work at the moment..... we had a short contingency period while the radar center and ChCh tower were evacuated following the tremor. The ChCh runway is closed til 10am for engineering inspections, so flights are delayed in and out of ChCh. I'm waiting to hear from my sister-in-law in Linwood to see how they've fared. The 7 o'clock news brief and a few radio stations are reporting extensive damage in the CBD and there are reports of looting!!

Yeah there are many members down there Robin/Ian W are just a couple ,sounds like from sky news that there is no deaths reported yet plus no power for the guys to come on line and let us know they are ok ..

Is it bad taste to suggest that VLC be redone for CHCH?

I guess I will be down there this week for work. Hope all FS'ers are safe and well.

My Bro is in Waimate south of Timaru and spoke to my mum on the phone just now, they had the full on shakes goin on there, jumped under a door jam and had to hold on to it to steady themselves so they didnt fall over. Sounds like quite a ride. Fingers crossed for those in ChCh

As an ex Christchurch resident this freaked me out when I first read this on my phone this morning. Hope everyone is ok, my thoughts go out to you all, and hope that everyone and everything is going ok.

Man this has shaken this me up. I used to live in central Christchurch, and heard it's been shutdown!!

I'm not really getting much coverage over here.
When asked what I have contributed to on this earth my reply will be my daugther

Phew, what a ride...
Still quite rough aftershocks every few minutes, (there we go, as I speak) so I'm a bit wary of using the computer, but things held up very well considering. I did see sparks shooting out of the Xbox during the main quake, so I'm a bit scared to try that.
(Another shake.)

I'm glad the power is back on, the thing I missed most was my espresso machine...
