What's amazing, I was joking with an old ice hockey friend, and he said the rink was open on Saturday night, and they played hockey on Sunday. Great excuse when falling down on the ice, must of been an aftershock.

Must admit - I don't envy you guys one little bit.

Neither in Canada nor my 10 years in NZ have I felt even the slightest earth trmor let alone a quake. Used to be curious what it really felt like, but now I am happy to go on the rest of my life without one after seeing your guys reactions to this one. Really a nasty thing these quakes.

Sorry to hear you CHCH boys are still getting 'the shakes'. It's been quiet for so long up in the Bay that I've forgotten how intrusive and unsettling earthquakes can be. And is it just me, or do others attribute almost person-like characteristics to a quake? Like they are a person sneaking up on you to maliciously give you a fright and damage your property. I don't 'mind' them too much during the day, but the night ones are most certainly unenjoyable - the 'sneaking up on you' factor seems greatly enhanced when one is rudely roused from a sleep. And on that point - does anyone else have a kind of 6th sense that wakes them up just before a night quake? I nearly always get that, even with the very small quakes (those ones that if I were walking around I would probably miss them) - very weird. Bucktooth.gif ninja.gif

Looks like it might be our turn soon - just had 2 small quakes up here, off the coast. I didn't feel the 1st one @ 10:03, and the one at 10:48 was fairly minor (my wife who was standing at the time didn't feel it, I - sitting down - did, but it was just a few seconds of gentle rolling). I spoke to my mother who is in Waipawa, and she said they felt the 2nd one and it was a good shaker - in fact, she was starting to wonder if you lot in CHCH had sent your shakes up to us! tongue.gif
