Which british(late WW2 )aircraft flew with two (albeit slightly ) different engines at the same time? and why?
Clue: It flew high and fast.

I just read about it today, and thought it was interesting......

On monday I'll have a real quiz for you....its an as yet unidentified aircraft part, that has all the museum staff guessing......on first sight it seemed easy, but its turned into a real mystery.Ive got to do some more reaserch on it in the morning, and I'll take some photos of it(permission granted) , and see if the collective forum knowledge base can ID it.

well without googling it I have no idea, but I do look forward to your quiz about the part at work!

Didn't they slap a couple of jets on the ouboard engines of a Lancaster just after the war? Called the Lancastrian from memory.

A late model aircraft able to fly high and fast - one aircraft that had two different engines , both the same but one was the first real turboprop and this was tested on a Gloster Meteor .

I learnt a lot from just those two replys....but the aicraft i was reading about (pilots notes) was the Mosquito B-35 , similar to a PR-34.
The B-35 ran a merlin 113 and a 114 (sometimes 2 x 113) it was all to do with the cabin blower. The 114 has a blower and the 113 hasn't.The blower is needed for the pressure cabin.
Some early PR 34's were fitted with a 113 on the starboard side only............seems crazy, if they need a blower, and the 114 has one...fit 2!
The section ends by saying that the blower isnt used on the B-35 ....SO WHY fit an engine that has one???....blimey, it must be limey.
