OK, there has been a scam that has gone around from Indian people.

THEY ARE NOT MICROSOFT AND THEY ARE NOT AFFILIATED WITH THEM.

These people are not with Microsoft and they will ask you to:
- Click "Windows Key" + R
- Enter eventvwr ......

and so on, they will say that you have a virus and so on..... if and doubt HANG UP!!!

My advice, hang up. I have talked to the people for 30 mins and trolled 3 of them.

Please don't hand over personal information and install products that they want you too. They will get control of your computer and they will do thing that are illegal and/or steal your identity.

I have to tell people because they are doing things that are illegal. They are not even convincing!

My advice.

Yeah, it was on TV (Fair Go) last night.

I have been contacted 8 times in two months. When hanging up on them I have found two words very effective
in ending the conversation, however they cannot be reproduced here, The calls seem to have dropped off.

Also effective is asking them to hold the line, then leaving them to themselves for half an hour. On one occasion
I advised them that I was an IT technician for Shell Oil, this resulted in an immediate disconnection. This is almost at
epidemic proportions here and I have advised a number of elderly neighbors of the situation as I can see it working
on the unwordly and/or computer illiterate.

I had a call from them about 6 months ago and the first thing I said when he told me I had errors on my PC do you want me to download a file so you can get into my PC and fix it the answer was a very quick yes, so I promptly told the guy where he could go and that spammers like him should be locked up in jail or go and find a legit job and stop trying to rip people off and boy did I got an ear full of some of the foulest language and called some real choice names so I very politely said it sounded like you are talking about yourself and hung up.

i had a phone call here in brisbane, saying my windows install has a virus, to which i responded "really? may antivirus program has just finished a scan and it has not found anything." to which they repesponded that it was a new virus that would not be picked up. ï then said that i would like to know how norton antivirus cannot pick this up and at that point i heard the famous truck reversing beeber on my end of the phone, and funnily enough i have not heard from them since.

We had a call, wife handed the phone to me. Apparently my windows was infected and it was "transmitting from the PC I had on at the moment", the thing was I had just finished installing Ubuntu on a netbook and when he told me to click the Windows logo I lead him on for a bit trying to find it. When he then asked what O/S I was using and I told him the call finished rather ubruptly.

Yea, i was on a skype call and put them on speaker...

All they do is really annoy you... so i asked them to say everything in Greek, then in the universal code (Mike, November.....)

They are really annoying... but I forgot to advise them that they had been busted.... I was disappointed at myself....

But; after 30 mins of talking to them and saying things that would not be repeated here. They hung up.... BTW: they can really yell at people, I think they had a hard day of scamming.

hahaha

Ive had about 3 calls. Just hang up as cannot be bothered in stringing them on. Do they think we are all idiots and that they have a super system where they can detect a virus on my computer from India etc. Go figure. May be next time will lead them on a goose chase of sorts. Wise to inform the elderly if possible next door though. Cheers.
Adrian.

Me too 4 times in the last month. 1st time I was already suspicious, disconnected my router (without telling them) and continued to follow instructions. After many instrucions to bring up windows reported faults (mostly very minor ones that your PC is continually logging) the operator finally gets to the crux - They are after your internal IP address so they can bypass your firewall and freely acsess your computor anytime they feel like it . This whole time they didnt even know that I was diconnected so thier claims that they are recieving errors from your PC a false. In the end I told the operator that I was recieving an error message which began to confuse the hell out of him. He asked me what it said so I read it out. F.#.*.K.O.F.F. To my amazment he did not even get it so i vented my anger at him and told him not to bother anyone else as well.

3 similar phone calls later and now I dont even waste my breath. They start their rant and I just put the phone down and walk away. They are relentless barstards thats for sure.

Haha one of these dics called up my girlfriends grandma a few months ago, whilst me and her teenage computer savy brothers were over. Sounded like a scam immediately so we made her hang up.

As it would happen, another joker rang me up this afternoon. Saw on the phones display that it as an international number so after playing along for about a minute I asked him where he was calling from. He said Vellinton (he meant Wellington) so I started asking what street he was on and where the closest train station to him was, and messed with him enough until he hung up. Was a good lol
