Perhaps the Pentagon has run out of cash.
These days, movie budgets are the only thing big enough to buy an F-35 programme!
Great plot, though! Not
Actually, you don't need a plot, just some Jets and Music (that can be attached to every Youtube clip made about test pilot school, for the next 10 years)
They'll have to be careful about the romantic interest too: the last one turned Tom down, and ran off to marry a girl.
Quentin Tarantino had views on all this, I'll leave you to Google his Youtube take on Top Gun.
Wow, will it sell, a quarter of a century on?? can't wait.

Year of rumour .. jolly blimey , i could write the story , more blood and guts in it tho ... we'll take on the North Koreans this time .. love scene deleted cos we killed Kim the daughter of Kim Dong Ill who died and has his son Kim Dong Kill has taken over .... well you get the gist of the story .. can't tell to much and give it away .

That's no good North Korea is not good enough they need a decent adversary for Maverick to dogfight so in an F35 possible decent adversaries would be either China with its equivalent to the F35C or Russia with its T50. IMO the Chinese one would be ideal so some sort of fight between China and Taiwan with a US Navy fleet vs a Chinese Navy fleet with their new fighter. Both fighters would be quite cool in such a movie as they are both Stealth and have similar capabilities.

Awesome though that there might be a Topgun2 still.

Eastwoody .. now no relation to the real Clint Eastwood stole an entire squadron of lessor but still "Dangerous" Mig-128's ... and flew the '"Birdies" oh sorry i hate it when it dose that' .. to a base close to the 38th line to show the evil Kim Dong Kill is just as blatant as his father Kim Dong Ill in showing off his new stolen wares ... now come please - can't tell you the entire story .. Cripes you want pictures next

Good links there EJ , ... 50 years ago , no wonder the 105 was a force to be reacon'd with but the F-35 .. we have to think in movie mode .... we can't afford to shoot down half the entire fleet .. in a movie

.... the F-35 only gone operational in the US recent .. think the movie maybe a little whiles off yet .

The Su-35s is such a good aircraft, it has a range of 3600km compared to the F-35s 600miles range which is less then a P-51 mustang

Trust me .... in the movies you can really extend the range and never run out of ammo as well

At this moment in history... they still have an airworthy MiG 15-
bis which would do the job very nicely!
The US might do itself a favour, and keep the F-15 Mudhen line open.
Still the only decent warplane they have.

Yes please.
Also: I hear they're hiring for the script rewrite.
Better hurry, by the time this gets going, Tom will be in a motorised wheelchair doing dangerous stunts crossing Hollywood Boulevard.
Mind you, by then the script will have him in a trailer in Nevada, waggling a little joystick going: "Permission to fly by the mast?"

They may like to think they advise the Australian Govt but anybody with an inch of knowledge in defence purchasing decisions dont take any notice of these guys...in short they don't really know what they are talking about

All these details and spec's and data is easy accessible in regular and standard publications , if it is posted so freely it will not equal readings from Asia-Pacific Defence Reporter or Defence review monthly , what you see is a general and find it out off date or least tibbets given .
