Well , what a day. As of 1200hrs today, the inner city red zone is gone.
Im still there looking after my 17 floors of nothing , but now i have joe and joan public walking past my portacom window ..... odd feeling , after a year or so of working in a relatively exclusive area.
I had a bit of a run in with a young lady from the council .... the fence that separates me from them was moved a little, so i had to rehang my signs on the new fence .
These are warning signs "extreme fall hazard do not enter" ....... anyway , just got the last one up and along came ms whoever .... "you can take those down" .... "why ? "
"we dont wont to make people nervous "

Blood pressure increases .... but , still being polite, i try to explain that the 17 floor tower behind her is still moving (albeit slowly) and there is a risk of bits dropping off .... hence the warning
"i dont want to hear doom and gloom" , to which , i refer this idiot to cera ..... who back me up in the end.
Anyway , the signs are in place ....WTH !!

I can not get my head around this place (council) Lets open the redzone and let people and their kids walk around some of the most dodgey structures in the city..... im happy to work there , but i wouldn't let my mum and dad go through there ....

Arghhh , maybe im tired and grumpy ... lets leave it there.

I can help .. pick the most dangerous point . INSTRUCTIONS BELOW :

1 - Caution tape , needs to be done to make it council regulation ..

2 - Place and mask a cross

3 - Get a spray can of construction marker ( day-glo orange ) the best

4 - Kindly ask your new found girl friend to stand in the marked area

5 - Next phone me about Wigrams closer AGAIN ! ... yeah again ... may only take a few minutes

6 - Problem fixed tongue.gif

Maybe so Ian, i dont mean to be awful , but this little brat was still hanging on her mothers t*t when i was out there "defending the country"
It (for me ) comes down to respect ..... something thats lacking in society today.

She made me feel old and dated , because i was just carrying out my brief .... you can stick your "feel good" cr@p , orders are orders, i respect the people who employ me , and i understand what they want and how they want it done.
As i said, Im tired and grumpy ..... but dont mess with my integrity.....

SP, it is good to know the endemic institutionalised stupidity of council bureaucrats has not changed. I find that very reassuring winkyy.gif

Funny you should say that , flat 4 further down the back, Indian couple left his scooter out , heard the noise scraping and breaking .. 6 or 7 kids dragging the locked bike down the street - after had happen and put the scooter behind my fence, ... today was fixing his bike and straight out said he's been in the area for three years and never had a problem , new tenant here of only a couple months ... I caught these kids 13-15 yr old at a guess , 11.50 Wed's night - Thing he question was were are the parents ... it dose bleed down .. NO RESPECT ! and NO POLICE 'N ..

Good for you Marty. Totally in the right. The council would be the first ones screaming bloody murder were there to be an accident.

I'm really surprised the red zone has been lifted to be honest given the state of things still.
