I had just heard last night that the late news show Nightline on TV3 had its last show and has ended for good sad.gif

The reason for it ending for good is that a new show is going to replace Nightline from 2014 onwards and the number of people watching Nightline have dropped significantly to just over 100,000 viewers.

It ended with Sacha Mcniel leaving the TV3 news studio leaving behind a time bomb in the studio and then leaves the MediaWorks building and then the building blows up and the screen goes like the TV signal is out and suddenly it said Thanks For Watching

The show lasted from 1998-2013 (15 years)

I'd rather hoped someone would apply that treatment to the 7:00PM slot on TV1...
Live television surely must wither and die - my kids don't watch it at all, I only watch recorded material.
Must be hell to sell an advertising slot on there these days, who'd be sitting still and watching it??

It has been for years, catering to the lowest common denominator. I'm sure most of the news is straight off youtube.

Well, as live TV has gone digital here, it has more channels, better sound and quality. I don't see any evidence to show that live TV is rapidly becoming cr@p for the feeble minded

Thanks to the Going Digital people and the Government, TV has gone better than usual. clapping.gif

As well, luckly My place, Auckland which is in the Upper North Island region, was the last place in NZ to have the traditional analogue TV signal switched off on December 1st biggrin.gif

The technology might be better, but the content is sadly lacking. All the evidence you need that it's cr@p is the diabolical shambles that is 7-Sharp !!!

The decision to ditch the only channel with regular programming which required some thought with information content (ie the deceased Channel 7) would be evidence that the powers that be have no interest in fostering interest in TV programming apart from keeping the masses entertained.
