Something I don't normally do but I'm about to explode... I lost the Scottish Independence vote, I lost the NZ election (Congrats to the right BTW), and my neighbours house just went up in smoke (Who's also a client of mine at work). Seriously, just how much more messed up can this weekend get for me??????

I won't get into that (can of worms, s.... storm, etc etc), I just had to vent something, it's been a really bad weekend mentally and emotionally(Esp the Scottish referendum, 800 years after Robert the Bruce fought for our Freedom, 800yrs ago June 24 this year) and we get a no result?????) so had to just say something, but I am really worried about that cat's teeth...

I don't know a lot about it, but to me, (bear in mind I am half scottish/ half english, once upon a time)
to the average Scottish person on the street, what is the difference in a name? It's kind of like a woman getting married. She might change her last name from Scotland to Great Britain, but she's still the same old Jane with a new last name. Oh, and now she is married to Mr Great Britain, she has married well to one of the strongest countries in the world. Sure she could leave Mr Great Britain, and go back to being Miss Scotland, but why bother? Sure you gain a title, and a new flag, but is it really all that bad being a part of something bigger? For me (forgive my ignorance), it's kind of like Otago suddenly deciding to go it alone and draw a line from the rest of NZ. Or California drawing a line around their border and going it alone. We're all the same. All kiwis, all americans, all UKers. The days of castles and conquerors was 800 years ago as you say, and in a modern world of tolerance, multiculturalism, and freedom of movement (EU open borders) it just doesn't make sense to me. Anyway, just my two cents being a person on the outside of the whole equation looking in winkyy.gif

Interesting to read your vent though. I didn't realise a kiwi would get so fired up about something like that over there

Open borders as they are .... surprised, no word from Bond .. James, I mean Sean Connery, he was in your face about this subject decades back, what ever happened to him.

Bad luck generally comes in 3. Should be all sweet from now smile.gif
My partners a Scot and I'm a pom (kiwi from 3) so you can imagine the home situation. Mind you she is glad that Scotland is staying in the union which is surprising coming from a Glaswegian lass.

It's important to remember that Scotland has never been successfully invaded - even the Romans finished up building walls to keep us out - whereas England was overrun by the Normans as recently as 1066. And then in the Union of the Crowns in 1603, the top job went to a Scots king - James the Ist and 6th (of England and Scotland, respectively) biggrin.gif

'Propliner' is actually short for 'Proper airliner, with big rumbly radials'
