Its a country that is very close to what happened in Lebanon, Beirut was known to be the jewel of the Mid East the 1960s, look what happened to that city in the late 1970 early 1980s and they then picked on countries that bordered them , Lebanon - Syria are so much the same , this new IS group needs to be deleted .

CNN are saying , the attack is intense , involves Bombers , fighters , and the cruise missiles .
Bombers , must be B-2's , fighters .... well , the F-15 is both, and whatever the other Arab nations can throw at it ..... what do they have ?

Just took out the political bit of my post , for fear of being sent to the wall of shame ..... wasn't needed anyway .
Lets just stay tech , otherwise it gets messy.

F22s aw been used this time around for the first time... the Arab forces (Saudia Arabia, UAE, Bahrain, Qatar etc) are using a mix of F16s, Tornadoes, Typhoons, F15s and Mirage 2000s. Not sure whether they are all been used though

Ian Warren wrote:So strange with Syria - the entire country, even before the 1960/70 country was known to be fighting amongst themselves - hell read the history then with pre the first and second Gulf war of 1991 and 2001 they were adamant anti western and always had activists running around blowing people up, ...... they turn on themselves then want the help from the western now you have the IS group really stirring things up , Air Strikes - Best thing to do.
They have to stop them as they are practically invading both Syria and Iraq.

Now that is not so different to most off these cowardly type fighter factions ... hiding in amongst the general population for protection.

Prediction: Since the terrorists are likely in street-clothes / civilian clothes, there's probably going to be a push by ISIS/ISIL supporters to show that the allied coalition caused massive civilian causalities, simply by showing pictures of dead terrorists without guns to a public who doesn't know any better. Even though pretty much everyone is against ISIS, they can still turn public opinion away from military action, unfortunately.

In some sense that is the classic Vietnam setup - Your got the idealist, You got the collaborators , You got corrupted , You got the Nutters , then add the tourists who are terrorists , add a lot of rego into it ... add a little arrogance and shear ignorance .... plop that into a melting pot and stir ... JIBBER JIBBER STEW !

At the end of the day there is only so much that aerial bombardment can accomplish and at the same time keeping collateral damage to a minimum. It will take troops on the ground and I don't think Uncle Sam wants to go down this path again so soon. This means arming up Assad or the rebel militia to take on IS. One only has to look back at what happened after the Taliban were provided with arms? Things can go pear shaped very quickly.

One thing they say in war ... its the solider, the ground troops that win the battles and the wars, who owns the territory wins !
