One of the guys at CBFS was working on a model of a dry-land training platform at a RN or RAF base in the UK, which would rock & roll just like a ship, and the trainee had to pin the tail on the donkey, so to speak.
Yep - as I thought it was Ben, aka TSR2. I found the whole thread very interesting, so you might find it worth reading too, but you could also go to Page 12 of the thread, scroll down to the bottom and start from there smile.gif
EDIT: I have found it is usually a good idea to include the link to the thread one is talking about wub.gif

Re-copied and pasted the original from CBFS, works now. This is a common problem with those 'shrunken' URLs - the middle bit just goes walkabout.

That's all good Mike .. still a ways to go with the scenery , course thing is can the model be important on NZ scenery for example.

Well, Ben has a day job and a young family and all the usual RW things that interfere with flight simming biggrin.gif
Once he gets the animation sorted, the land model could be adapted to a ship, to amuse all you carrier jockeys cool.gif

Would not mind giving it a go building a carrier or least maybe a complete rebuild of the Canterbury .. but in saying that should get back into airport builds.

If you want a challenge landing on a moving ship in FSX then try the advanced helicopter tutorial there is a fun ship to land on at the end of that mission.

That's were if anything pop's up you should involved with beta's , mind you in saying that once close to a release it is almost a daily couple plus hours, end up going out on another fishing boat would make it dang difficult , ever since FS98 at least the helicopters have progressed into some that requires real flyers.

I'd love to be involved in beta testing, if anyone will have me haha. As you say though, the nature of my job means it might be difficult right now.

What do you mean "if anyone will have me " Nick ?
If ever a better "beta" tester were needed ... it would be you ...... thats what you do for real!
And if they wont ..... forget them , your better than that.

I don't think any pilot would try to land on a ship moving like that it would be suicide lol unless you land there straight away.

SUBS .. that would have to the worst example of computer helicopter flying , many months back when rudder pedals did the "I'm not doing this anymore" left me to test a theory - YIP requires rudder pedals and NO for MS FLIGHT winkyy.gif

Back in the day FSX was first released we did a MP .. was so silly easy to plop yourself on the deck , I'll currently stick with my Aerosoft F-14X and carrier biggrin.gif

Usually by the time I find out about projects that interest me, its too late to be involved. I don't have any in roads with developers like Mr Warren seems to laugh.gif

It is a dirty job , but I guess someone has to do it smile.gif ,

What a lot of people don't realize is the continuous builds and the check this check that ... or double check, Know where to go into cockpit and generally have a good history resource to check on specific design and plans of the types , Step forward and explain , you get a return then go and check again .. almost like a ping pong table .. study every line , pull the books out and get the history , funny how much ya get to really Know.

In a way , Its a superb thing to do , biggest thing , the developers/designers get to a stage were they have had enough and enough .... but only to return with a PATCH biggrin.gif

Yeh I imagine it would be a big job. If you hear of any projects that you think I could have input in, let me know
