It would appear that there is already a number of contenders vying for the NZ 2015 Darwinian award. A award that is rewarded posthumously to those that enhance the human gene pool through their own demise.
The first was a young chap that decided to leap from a 10m light pole into a swimming pool but missed it.
The second was a tourist that somehow managed to recklessly overtake traffic prior to a narrow bridge (down on the westcoast) which he somehow managed to impact, disappearing over the side into the swollen waters.
The third contender decided to redress a neighbour in a camping ground who was playing loud music by cutting through the caravan's power cord with a pair of pliers. Unbelievable but true

This one almost made it

At the moment it seems like every day there is a new contender! Is there something in the water?

Here's an example of a 2013 recipient

Against stupidity, the gods themselves contend in vain. (Schiller)
In this neck of the woods, there are so many candidates that only the exceptional ones make the news pages:

They lost me before they even got off the ground, by assuming I would find the Magda Szubanski character in their original ads an amusing fellow passenger. WRONG!
Mind you, given their BOAC/QANTAS ancestry, that attitude was only to be expected. They just don't know any better.

No, nay, never - you will not find me flying "Bogan Air" to anywhere.
For domestic flights in Oz, Virgin provides what I want.
For the UK, Emirates is the airline of choice, because they provide BNE>DXB>GLA.

Another advantage of Emirates is that the baddies are just a tad less likely to shoot down one of their own....

Yes I think the duo award is theirs. The question is how did they get this far in life?
