Cold flying in Canada

Postby deeknow » Thu Feb 12, 2015 11:34 am

My boss is in Canada at present and sent some pics back to us this week as he was boarding a flight from Winnipeg (right in the middle of Canada) to Vancouver (on the west coast). I've flown in/out of similar conditions in Norway as a PAX and makes you feel a little nervous when you're not used to it, like most of us antipodeans aren't.

Here's the actual flight/route from Winnipeg to Vancouver (BTW he was in the 737, not the ATR, be a long and miserable leg in the ATR I'd say)

I hate ATRs. Nice photos, I really want to get up there if I can get somebody to sponsor my work visa

One thing I cannot handle is those extreme well below yucky temps ... only reason I did holiday in around the equator ..... I love to know what was written on that polac wraparound air-bridge.

One off the primary problems when the ATRs were first introduced into North America mid 1980s , the wing boots were not up to it for the serious arctic cold and weather, from memory three aircraft crashed due to the icing , one simply just fell out of the sky.
