That is a great breakdown and specific for someone who has not followed or tracked other power sources - another was the ion and plasma engine and was running in the UK in the mid 1980s - basic design was thought of in the early 70s some reason I recall they were clean but again not followed the works.

Like so many ideas they get shelved , not only because of the military application but also its people lining their pockets and don't want the change then use that to bribe the politician and that is every country and not just America.

Now Mike that is one movie I have not seen ... George C Scott tho as the General .. suited him .

One thing that did stick in my mind from many years ago was those long chimneys belching smoke, the industrial revolution they called it but even in Christchurch we had greasy and messing places, the Gas works along Moorhouse Ave opposite then new CTB bus park in 1970 in the wet and dark did not look like clean green New Zealand.

I have a story related to this that I was just told by another Hungarian fellow - I couldn't believe it but found the articles on the internet that confirmed it:

Basically a mid-sized town in Hungary decided to install a a wind-farm and run the whole town off that.
The Green Party (!!!) went against it with blazing guns saying that it could potentially hurt the birds living in the area and it also increases noise pollution! :swear:

Wait...what? Green party against the wind farms??? Only in Hungary... Seriously though; people suspect that the local power company threatened some people to put it off... It's really sad...

Original thought from NSW:
"‘‘The Greens spend every hour campaigning to end the coal industry, but all of a sudden want wind turbines to spread coal dust across Newcastle,’’ he said."
http://www.theherald.com.au/story/24444 ... d-turbine/

Could nearly be an entry for the Darwinian comp...

That another point .... simply they are as bad as the rest off them ... get all these do good ers , they move thousands of snails to a so called safer spot spend a lotta moneys and they all died  ... They were moving them from one off New Zealand's coffer money bag areas the West Coast coal mines ... spent more moneys saving snails .. well not quite .. rather the Pike Mine incident !

That was the NSW Gummint, and it was not one of their finest moments. They refused to allow a wind farm in the vicinity of the Coal Loader, because the turbines "would blow coal dust everywhere".

Is that not Ironic ... I thought the worry would have been a Nuclear, more clean and green power plant ... safety in Nukes ! B-) save the snails and the birds

Some years ago, there was a mob in the UK called the Animal Liberation Front, or somesuch.
One Good Friday, they broke into a snail farm which supplied exotic snails to the restaurant trade. The snails could not survive outside the controlled environment in which they were reared.
Nevertheless, the activists threw open the gates and said "Run for it , fellas, you're free" - so those who reached the gates before the theft was discovered all died.
I'll need to search through the BeebNews archives to find the story, if only to nominate these idiots for the Darwinian Awards.

...and more. I'd love to have one of those small particle accelerators.
I guess the fossil fuel industry will be trying to sink this big time.

I do like how the these short videos are precise and to the point , now I wonder who is going to have the balls to get this project up and running, in a way its a little like this guy who has built an extremely efficient wood burner here in Christchurch but can't get a patent past the council because the energy companies here have blocked it .

See I told everyone Nuclear power was safe years ago :D .. again its those money power players, the pollicocks and the pollidicks
