sunday night comp

Postby Splitpin » Sun Mar 01, 2015 7:04 pm

You have been warned ..... at this stage it looks like the "bot" will win .
Apathy ... such a sad word (look it up)
Anyway ... here we go , for the Cosmos (original) 7 dvd boxed issue.

Question 1 : What was Buzz Aldrin's mothers maiden name ?
Question 2 : The Gemini missions were flown in what years?
Question 3: Who was the last man to walk on the moon ?

See you soon ..... :)

They all rang a bell, but I didn't want to ring you at 3 am to answer...
1. Same as Frank Zappa's oldest girl.
2 . The project ran from 1961-1966.
3. Gene Cernan, only because it came up in an online trivia quiz the other day while my neighbour and I were having a beer.

Of course I am ineligible because I cheated on the first two - how long before 'google' acquires the additional meaning of "to cheat in an online quiz"?

I'm reading Gene Cernan's book right now. It's a bit subjective, you could argue that Harrison Schmitt was the last man to walk on the moon....

Funny .. it was a private joke when I met Buzz at Wanaka , as told we had my Space Shuttle above head and was worried the strings attached would break , strange his mother last name was 'Moon' off all things, something that stuck in my brain case ever since, speaking to Ed , I said one off my fave movie hero's was a Marion .. "John Wayne" turned out he met and knew him very well ... weird !

I am surprised many did not jump in and go for this .. It would be a superb collectors item , seriously I grew up with the Slisssh off opening doors and in Avonhead Primary they even had a Chekov/Uhura panel for a prop .... space man ... B-)

O dear O dear. The America's Cup all over again, if you can't win on the field, take it to court and split hairs there.
Cernan and Schmitt walk back to the lander, Cernan arrives first. As commander he waits at the foot of the ladder to see his crew are all aboard and then boards himself.
There was none of this crap with Hillary and Tenzing. Sir Edmund always gave full credit to Tenzing Norgay for his contribution, even though that seriously upset the British Imperial establishment. So, OK, a knighthood for that eccentric Colonial chappie, but nothing for the native porter.
