GO USA B-) , Love to see one off these in New Zealand waters , be almost worth a four day stint to Brissy to check it out , this bloody anti nuclear dibble the gov has here , the carrier would more than welcome here by Joe public , park it into Lyttleton for a few days and have an open days .. maybe a week to really check the thing out ... have a bitta Kiwi/US hospitality B-)

Joe Public won't get near it...last year we had Bonhomme Richard and another ship here, but no public access, ship tours or anything like. Had quite a few of the guys through the museum though. The recommended viewing spot is on the opposite side of the river.

The ole but new "Bonnie Dick" was an Essex class aircraft carrier, CVA-31 was still in reserve in 1988 .. but the new "Bonnie Dick" is not Nuclear so should not be any reason to pop into a NZ port.
