Glad she wasn't on my Metro into Dunedin at 3am a few years back.

I always remember the F/O's comment when we finally made it back safely to the Swampy hold after encountering severe turbulence turning final 03 "you're not planning on having another go are you"? "Absolutely not!" "good, because I wasn't coming with you"

Love it. Dunedin can be a shocker of a place. We very nearly lost a 737-200 there with wicked windshear.

I'll have to dig up the crash report , recall the Friendship crash , no PAX on board into Auckland on approach , I think its was a return flight after a fix in Tauranga ... but away from that , one off my return flights from Asia one women should not have had my Window seat...

... maybe that is were the story in the first Herald posting , maybe someone should take the silly twit up for a flight ... nah... waist off petrol!

I read this as more of a complaint about the lack of information following something like this. Considering that a percentage of the passengers are probably flying on, or having to go home sometime, I can fully understand that they might be a bit freaked.

A simple announcement 'sorry about that, that's just normal turbulence' would've fixed it.

But yeah, I tried to picture the aircraft 'cornering', but failed...

Classic. One of the reasons public eye witness accounts in aircraft incident investigation are unreliable and practically worthless. In fact they can seriously hinder an investigation.

I think the same could be said for the measuring/measurement and reporting earthquakes - make sure it is accurate , for my interested sake I put a small glass off water on the table beside me to/when replying to http://www.geonet.org.nz/quakes/felt , only for to explain the difference to keep it accurate ... I have seen some amazing results , course the findings are reported.
