Most off the research and getting further the information and photo correct was from this superb book by Tony Phillips . (printed 2006)
Only to find there has been an update .. did not see it in the shops , but available from NZCH airport only - I want that copy!

I've ordered my updated copy "With Great Foresight" by Tony Phillips , be another two weeks away, I love to see him update his book "Gateway to the Ice" and have it released as a hardcover .. I might give him a nudge. ;)

That is were my arty farty stuff will kick in :) ... You can see though the mag glass a No.2 , that is the base as you would have known it in the late 1960s early 1970s.

:) , I think this is were I come in , biggest thing we are so lucky to have an author , Tony Phillips to compile such a detailed book, I gave my Vol.1 copy to a good friend who always stops here nearly every week, Vol.2 is updated with a few more chapters and photo info , a gorgeous book , still dose not have the photo that I have been working on , I have built that up from memory ... One guy Earl who now lives in Christchurch was a navigator on board VXE-6 'Phoenix' , ex-pat US Navy and now a tour guide at Wigram Museum, I must get that photo build completed with that specific aircraft ... :)
