Did any of you watch TV1 news tonight ?
From memory , their lead item was the earth shattering news that no civilian female type people have applied to join the SAS ...despite the fact that NZDF said they could !
Good lord , i dont think I'll sleep tonight worrying about that .....not.
News yes ...but a headline ? those senior presenters must cringe at some of the crap they are asked to read and remain serious ....
I have for many years avoided both national news channels (except when im here at mumble towers) but monitor CNN , BBC , and Al Jazeera .... and for me that's a good balance. I like the big picture .
I do however enjoy "story" at 7 on TV3 ..... cant stand that preening little twit on the other channel .

dont get me wrong about females in the SAS , I have no problem with that at all (as if it would matter if i did) I see that Jordan (i think) have their first Female F-16 pilot ..... go girl ! That must really piss ISIS off ... and that's good because ISIS really pisses me off .... so , come on girls ...dump the burka , throw on a helmet, and go and take out some filth that belongs in the stone age .

I was chatting to a USAF a C-141 crewman just after the first Gulf war questioning what is like in-flight refueling in a war zone , the guy says you have to ask the the aircraft captain, at tap on the shoulder and she turned around .... she was little hottie ! ... like center page fold out material ... Terry was allowed to fly transports into an area that was getting shelled but was not allowed to fly combat jet.

As far as the news is concerned go back to the news reel footage and movie tone news .... or the classic was the 'Hindenburg' disaster .... the reporting there.

Yes, news was news then, not spin - these days you can find a dozen different versions of reality in as many minutes, and not one of them factual. >ozflag<

Funny thing is how even sports people spin it out ... drag words out and use all the stupid puns, then old "would please please think off the children" is with the sad faces in hospitals .... News presenters and reporters .... , maybe a job for me 'News reporting'... I don't mince my words, I just say whats on my mind and say what I see.
