'Propliner' is actually short for 'Proper airliner, with big rumbly radials'

They are and incredible aircraft, the Herk is the ideal machine for water dump 1X1x1 meter size container weighs a metric tonne .... just for lessor educated , Herk payload max'd at 20 tons that's imperial .. so a few changes will be needed ....

As the hofficer said - 15,000 litres of water, which of course is 15 tonnes. I don't know what retardant weighs.
But just think of all the ratbag protest marches, walks for, and so on, where you could make a charitable donation of free water, in case they might get dehydrated?

Thinking off that the droughts ... HMMM .... I saw Lake Hume at the bottom off the barrel almost literary, 2% left ..... you gotta think ... engineering wise and not silly . OCEAN water .. salt is a good fire retard , 10 tonnes moved quickly ... , now to skill up the engineers to get a C-130 to pick up from the ocean .. have them in rotation 4 to 6 aircraft .. .. surly if CL-215s can scoop why not an airborne Hercules ... reason I kept it to 10 Tonnes just for safety.

Reason thats almost never done is the swells. Would more often than not take out the aircraft...

Owen , your not think like an engineer , refit the aircraft with a boom similar to a KC-135/KC-10 .. instead of a refueller go the other way and again similar to a submerged diesel submarine with a snorkel ... use the boom to pick up water .
