The best office

What a week ....I'm completely stuffed . I have never worked Monday to Friday before , its always been shift work with odd days off , or more recently weeks on the go and then a day or two off to shave and change my underwear :)
However , I'm getting into the way it works.
This morning i arrived at work just in time to see the sun come up in a Chrystal clear sky , the moon and Venus just hanging there. There was a light fog over the paddocks and i could see all the sheep and cattle's breath adding to it.
This , and the morning chorus of magpies , blackbirds , thrush and plovers , made me pity those poor people stuck on the motorway missing it all.... as i stood there with a coffee , completely relaxed.... just soaking it up.
Just thought i would share that with the group .... and the rest of the day went pretty good as well ... very well in fact , still lots to learn with a great team.
Spent the afternoon in the office learning the logistics (computer) side of the outfit ... but couldn't wait to get outside again .

Anyway , that's all good , hope you all had a great day.

Those crystal clear mornings are the best, and I really do appreciate not having to go on the motorway until well after the rush-hour madness has subsided.
Great to hear you are enjoying the new challenge too!

I always liked to watch the day break, towards the end of my nightshift, in my overhead crane

NZ255 ... I'm working for a company that hires out EWP's ( elevated work platforms) .
The boss has about 200 of them , they range in size from a push along 4.5mtr to a driven 40mtr monster.
My role is to "preflight" each machine before it leaves for a job ... its a comprehensive check that varies from machine to machine , and as people's lives are involved , it has to be done properly .
No place for" it looks ok" and as they do vary so much, the learning curve is steep ... and Im learning the computer booking system/ service schedule as well.
But, to put the post into perspective ..... the place itself is about 20k north of chc , on the owners farm.
He has built what amounts to a hanger (would hold a 737 no problem) with lights , heat, more tools than i will ever need ... and all in this wonderful setting (cows etc)
I have also been roped into becoming the onsite health and safety person ... and with April 4th and all the changes looming ... I'm busy.... but loving it.

I like the 'preflight' part. You are leaving the earth too. "V1, rotate! Gear up "

 Its a shame all the fun has been taken away in 2015.
Interesting you used the word "fly" ... a lot of the crane guys i know ( the dog's) use the the same term... "lets go flying" hanging in a basket on the end of a 70mtr boom

Hey, I missed this, Marty, but in my defense I was off the grid last Friday.... Sounds like things have worked out well. Keep up the good work.

Yes, that's the key - to get paid for doing something you would happily pay to do :D

Gone the day were brains controlled the world industrial world .. get a bunch govt idiots with uni twits in behind who don't or never used equipment or require the need to have explained step by step and then to dictate ..... one reason my brother has now left/leaving construction , its gone bloody mental .
