Been interesting to see were and when they first get deployed ... this time last year F-16 and 18s were doing well against them in mock dogfights but in saying that A4s were doing well against RAAF F-18s .. love the pop out now ya see me now don't rotary cannon.

In comparison the Hornet is extremely powerful vs the A4 but even a Strikemaster once managed to score a kill on a Hornet during training in NZ. The Gun pops out on the F35 because the cover is stealth otherwise the RCS would be bigger.

Gotta love the cannon doors, open/shut. In the old days ha ha., they used to put tape across the openings to get a better drag co efficient before using the guns 1st time.

Biggest reason for the tape on the machine gun and condoms on the cannons was to keep them healthy and clean so they did misfire :D

Damn! Thought I had read that somewhere....Better put some tape over my mouth * stop the bugs getting. LOL. Cheers

yep sure I read it, re spitfires as a by product gave a lillte bit more fuel range... Tho the main reason of course was to keep the muck n stuff out. (to which I bow to your superior knowledge) :groupwave:

Its quite surprising the little things they did, designing exhaust stacks is one well known for extra thrust .. amazing series off mod and fits .. off course it would have produced extra streamlining on the way out .. after fired tho one get the drag but then its compensated by fuel usage in weight .. mainly used for the dirt airfields and muddy strips.
