Speaking of Dunedin...
There's a short doco series which I think aired on TV, but I've been binge-watching ondemand. "Why Am I?" is about the Dunedin Longitudinal Study, which took every person born in Dunedin in 1972, and has studied them continually, for 40 years at the time this doco was made, I think. Just over 1000 participants are involved with 97% still involved in the study, even though only 35% remain in Dunedin. The rest are brought back annually for the tests.
The results have been used world-wide to direct health and social change, and the discoveries are mind-blowing. Well-worth watching, especially for those born after 1972, who may already benefit from the study, or those with kids. For oldies like me, I guess once they get to the time when they are all having heart problems, I'll be too old to benefit from any break-throughs!
TVNZ Ondemand-- sorry, locals only I think.
