catch up

Postby Splitpin » Sun Jul 03, 2016 7:16 pm

Re the moggy .... doing ok , seems it maybe a thyroid condition .. which can be treated ($$$ another new merc for the vet) Im keeping a close eye on the old chap , but all seems normal at the moment.
As some of you may know , Im off to school in the morning to start a "train the trainers " course .. 3 days in chc and then at a later date , a week in AKL to get the" can do" ticket.
I hope i can get through , its been a long time since i was in a classroom.

End result ( should be ) the old bugger being indoors from now on ... no more mud and dust , which , in a way I'll miss ^_^
I wont however miss the predawn starts in minus whatever temps .
Will let you know how i went on day one .... in 24 hours.

Evening all ... just a quick run down on the day.
Well ... first day at school and my head is spinning  Just finished a lesson plan for the morning , so i hope that goes well.
Totally outside my comfort zone at the moment , but Im feeling good about the whole thing despite some earlier misgivings.

Only 5 of us on the course , which suits me . The instructor is an ex SAS guy , a real hard dude (with some great work stories) , but a natural teacher.
We have an ex cop , a fireman , a snowboard instructor , the bosses wife and me , so its a real mix.

Anyway , I know its early , but Im over it for today.
Take care , will keep you posted.

Day two at school .... "Take an Apple to school tomorrow for the teacher and you will nail it " ..... cheers Ian , but the teacher hates apples <_<
I bombed on my first lesson but have a chance to redeem myself in the morning ....AND present my final lesson .

Needless to say I've been bloody busy since getting home . I've had to arrange delivery of training aids , write lesson plans , practice and time the lessons , and deal with all the outside school stuff as well (and there has been a bit)
For me the paper work is the problem .... sitting through 3 or 4 lessons , and critiquing them ...writing reports , doing evaluations ....as well as planning my next one .... jeeeezz
Pass or fail in the morning , I've learnt a lot ..... confidence has increased 100% , but bounded by capability , and that's good.

Overall , this whole thing (pass or fail ) has been a great learning experience ..... I've found out more about myself , I've set some goals (not easy when your 2 birthdays off 60)

Anyway ... my head is spinning , and its not wine .... so i think i shall turn in.

Will keep you posted , thanks for the thoughts .

Day three , the final one :) is over with a pass.
My head is still in a spin ... but its done .
Back to the mud and dust in the morning , kind of looking forward to it for some odd reason , but i think it will be short lived.
Anyway ... stay safe , see you in the soup.
