A bit of family history...

My children's grandmother has been putting together a family history for them, and she recently came by some more info, including a DVD of my grandfather's home movies from the 40s. There are a lot of shots of my great-grandfather's home in Wellington, which I instantly recognised -- here it is on Google Earth, showing NZWN runway! It's the little art deco place marked.
The house has gone now, which is a pain, but I might model it for NZWN.

I don't have a family history as such, I grew up on learning my past fathers brother who died during WWII and were my interest is in the stories and the life, Battle of Kula Gulf 1943, least I can find exactly were I grew up but other family history died .

That was one thing I thought, still remember the talk and mention, Jeez I would have only been seven or eight, I instantly thought of an old man, this is the only photo I could find, reason for many of my drawings, but yeah .. looking at Norman, the most near looking to him would be youngest brother Neil and oldest Allan.

Records of my family history date back, at present, to 1714, with full documentation, and a wealth of letters, photographs, objects, Birth + Death Certificates, Christening details, etc....

Delving further back in time will require travelling around the country to obtain Church Records, etc, many of them in Latin!

I have produced our Family tree, (ever expanding daily!), on a sheet of paper the size of a football field....(approximately).... :D ...!

Paul Fosbery....an Very Ancient Briton!.... ...!

Brilliant post, Paul, you had me at "In the film Zardoz, Sean Connery's character, Zed, carries a Webley–Fosbery revolver in several scenes." Now I picture you as a character in Zardoz!

I still tracking down a lot off material, It all leads to other directions .. sorta like the family tree got cut down and the branch's burned , I am on the right track, biggest thing that pisss's me off is loosing all my fathers Korean War photos, that would have been something well worth documenting.

....rather than; "American".... ...!

I see them by their Origins, rather than where they are now!
