Time for a change ?

Postby Splitpin » Tue Aug 30, 2016 8:50 pm

I really do value all your non flightsim input .... so what do you think about this plan?
Im bored with my car ...its nice , but Im bored .
Its (my current car ) a 2004 Mondeo ghia ..2.5 V6 , leather etc etc .... but Im bored <_<

Ive found this .... http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-ca ... 642335.htm

The engine is by ford ...may as well be a Mondeo , but the rest is just that little bit different .
I know its a little bigger in the cc range and therefore fuel economy will change , but i dont drive fast...... much.

Maybe Im having a midlife crisis because, I also looked looked at a Harley (only briefly ) I really dont think my little legs could hold one up if it started to slide

But really , what do you think about the Jag/ford ?

Truly .. end of the day, rule No.1 cheaply getting from point A to point B ... A for airport B for back home, big bikes burned tires and gas, if I was to buy a car the only feature I'd seriously be looking for would be measuring up and checking is how well my Warships would fit in the back only to transport them to Victoria Lake Hagley Park or were ever, only other side with a car is ideal to park out the airport, but that would the only reason ... really if I brought transport , it would be more based on simply getting to Hagley Park or another spot .... I was thinking this the other day were I generated so much regular interest that it was a local park meeting thingy ... Car, would be something worth looking at in the future.

It had me at ' smooth torquey'. At my age (which you are fast approaching) I'd just need something which is comfortable but still lets me put my foot down occasionally...

Darling daughter used to say that I only bought station wagons so I could put a heap of junk in the back - my excuse was that I needed somewhere else to live in case I lost my job :D

'Propliner' is actually short for 'Proper airliner, with big rumbly radials'

The wagon , flat bed would suit me fine.. again the primary thing is thinking what one needs it for ... the idea of comfort out the back of the airport would be a primary, again with me RC Battleships .. or that would also get me cooking with the Aircraft Carrier , love to see that really working , fact is a car , most are reliant on it cos they are to far out off town or ARE THEY ?...... large percentage is because they are to lazy ... other percentage is because they have to be in with the in crowd .. course forgot the boyracers , half of them would not even know the mechanics ...

I have always loved all my Motor bikes for my every-day transport....(often my only means of transport)....

...except when I use to wake up in the mornings to go to work, and it would be pouring with rain, or a howling gale, or 2-feet deep in snow and roads covered in ice, while the motorists got into their comfy, cosy, motor-cars!

Now I'm retired I can decide whether to go out on my bike....or not!.... :nahnah: ....!

I'm not retired as such, I got retired, I even look at Marty's title Time for a change ? the best thing I don't worry about the weather like yourself anymore, I'm not returning to a ... an industrial site/workshop anymore , I do have a particular set off skills an enthusiasm , trouble is like Marty's car I appear to to old and worn out with out any imagination .. biggest thing, I would wonder now I'm happy in my own home getting a Vehicle specific for my only need , going down to the lake ... there is another lake out side CHCH , I have not been there for years.

Motor cars.... ....

I've had a few over the years: A 1960? Austin Cambridge, 1958 Morris 1000 Traveller, 1968 Morris 1100, a 1932 Riley 9 Brooklands Grand Prix Replica, ending up with a 1982 Austin Allegro 1.5 HL, which was taken off the road in 1990 (40,000 total miles) and never used since.
I could never get used to the frustration of getting trapped in endless traffic jams and parking fees with my motor cars, so I concentrated on using all my various Motor Cycles ever since.

Now, Traffic Jams don't worry me any more, and I park for free everywhere........

...I just get wet and cold!.... ...!

Marty needs a comfy 2016 Scooter.
Ian needs a 1980 Honda CB900F.

Me?.... ....

...I need a lie-down!.... :sleepy: ...!

Paul.... ... ...!

I did have a 1982 Honda CB900FB, it did come with the racing fairing , I stored that put the smaller semi race fairing , a good heavy rack with the ability to put on a pack , ideal for touring the country it clocked 217,000 km (135,000 miles) before replaced.
