Not the best bit of flying I have seen yet "the pilot" was branded a hero.
Always hard to tell from a video but from what I can see it was a demonstration of poor crosswind technique .....no rudder use or even much aileron for that matter.
Not sure if the wind readout at the beginning of the video is correct or not but it states 360/13.

Watch on youtube.com

:D I'm not thinking of the passengers, I'm think off the camera man doing the video :D That must get cold filming in those breezes.

I agree that's some shocking technique shown there, trying to translate some of the comments on the video it seems like that was the wind strength when the guy first turned up to record, but certainly didn't look like that when the 73 had it's first attempt.

Was sitting at A11 in WLG on Saturday, waiting for a Dash to land and we saw a hardy chap with a camera right beside the fence line using a sign to steady his camera as he was getting blown around.

:D You do get the real dedicated 'Hardy' plane nutters out there, I'm not one of them tho , to catch video like that its handy to have a spot to return to and warm up, a car, think its just great we get to see this stuff really regular now... just give me the warm 30°C days anytime :)

I find the technique demonstrated on the first approach works well in a gusty 35kt crosswind at night. Close your eyes and hope :)
