Train Sim world and the Unreal engine

Postby cowpatz » Tue Nov 15, 2016 7:50 am

Quite amazing to see what dovetail games are creating for Train sim now that they are using the Unreal graphics engine.
Imagine something like this in flight sim. It will come.

That is pretty impressive , love looking at the tool used to build the scenery, that looks to be a real fun job ! the creating of the affects .. then the final result .

Wonderful stuff!

Illustrates the reason why I spend so much of my time on the ground, and a few hundred feet in the air, in all my Flight Sim flights!

Amazing scenery at ground level is what draws me to the Flight Sims.

Scenery at 30,000 feet AGL is wasted!

I suppose Train Sims and Truck/Car Sims scenery is easier to build, as it is only beside the tracks and the road, compared to Flight Sims which cover the whole World?

Looks interesting though!

Paul...exploring scenery in a Cessna 150/Gyrocopter..... :D ...!

PS ... even the first trainsim "world" was way ahead of any flightsim at the time.
The rain for example in the latest trainsim is years ahead of the bloody awful grey lines in most flightsims.

Long before flightsim, I was into model railway -- but for a divorced bloke on the move all the time, it took up too much room, so it was really sheer luck (or not) that I chose flightsim over trainsim. I always liked the idea of a combined world, which was MS's plan with FSXI -- I can imagine 'driving' to NZAA, flying to Christchurch, racing at Ruapuna, then taking the train home... all in the same world.
Or dropping flour bombs on your mates when they are on the race track....

Isn't it the typical thing , SHITE weather when you need the exact opposite ... its crap , been following the weather and thinking last thing they need ... rains when in a drought but the Quake , would really make the communities week!
