Zealandia....

Postby Fozzer » Fri Feb 17, 2017 8:13 pm

...the New Continent..... ...!

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-39000936

Blimey!...that's a bit scary... ...!

Reminding you blokes that the bits that you are actually living on, are barely a few feet above sea level.

The rest of your New Zealand(ia) is under water.

Just hope that you don't get too much rain, and you disappear under water again!

When you look at Google Maps its mind-boggling to realise that the land mass that we all live upon is barely above water!

...and the whole lot is floating upon a sea of molten magma rock.... :o ...!

Every time that you paddle out to sea, you are walking upon the rest of the continent of Zealandia.... :wink2: ...!

Don't wander too far out though, 'cos it can get a bit deep in places!

Paul.....making my way onto higher ground!.... .... :wink2: ....!

My favourite subjects at School (1940's) were Geography and Maps.... ...

..inter-spaced with the obligatory*; Reading, Riting, and Rithmatic!

I still spend many hours studying Maps, especially with the modern benefit of; "Google Maps"!

A wonderful source of information!

Paul.....Mapping and Napping.... :D ...!

*...Pounds Shillings and Pence, Feet and Inches, Pounds and Ounces, Miles, Fahrenheit; Rods, Poles, Perches and Chains, and other useful Queen Victoria stuff.... :P ...!

Paul...God Bless Her Majesty!.... ...!

..... ....!

Little like you , geography was a fave subject, I was in Vietnam the other night, the movie "Platoon" , for a war movie based in the 1960's they could not make up there minds weather it was metric or it was imperial , it is amazing with the equipment they have today to find all these little facts.
